Why? How?

I'm still speechless about happened, why did he do this? After thinking long and hard about the kind gesture my boss has done, I helped my mother sat the table, while my ex-boss/future husband, Andrew, and my father have their "man talk" while watching the football game.

"Look! They're bonding." my mother says as she admires them as a tear ran down my cheek.

Is this real God?

"What is it, sweetie?" she asked as she approached me giving a hug.

"I...I... Dad is back home," I managed to say after all that crying. "He's here, mom."

"I know baby." she comforts me. Andrew throws a glance; I could see his worried look from far away. I wipe my tears before he sees them.

Don't be a crybaby, Linda.

"Dinner is ready everybody!" my mother announced cheerfully.

"Finally! I haven't gotten a good meal in years!" my dad replies eyeing the delicious food.

I burst out laughing. "Oh, dad."

Mother cooked what could pass for a Thanksgiving feast from the green peas, brown rice, fried chicken, pies, and fruit salad for dessert.

I know she was doing all this to impress Andrew. My parent sat at the other side of the table while Andrew and I sat together.

"Let us down our heads," My mother began to say grace. As soon she finished, Andrew and my father dive into the food as if they haven't eaten in years. I gazed at them in shock.

Never in my life, have I seen them eat like this before.

Never!

"... I didn't have a good breakfast this morning, " he replied as he filled his plate all the way to the top.

"Eat as much as you want." My mother smiled warmly at him. "So when is the big day?" She added.

I let him answer that because I was clueless as she was.

".. We haven't decided yet. But you'll be the first to know when we do." Andrew kissed my cheeks, sending an uneasy feeling in my heart. He's making this seem as if we're doing this for the right reason.

"Please, do keep me updated." my mother winks at me.

"We will, Mom," I replied a bit embarrassed, might as well turn into the color purple.

She knew how to humiliate me, sometimes.

After hours of talking, and eating, it had come to an end. Andrew glimpsed at his watch.

"Mr. & Mrs. Smith, thanks for having me. The food was great. We have to get going now," he automatically gripped my hand so that I can get up along with him. "Out lunch date awaits."

I'm not going down without a fight.

I didn't move a muscle.

"W... Wait, what lunch date?" I asked, still glaring at the hand that he held captive.

My tiny hand!
My gosh, I'm so dramatic.

"Our lunch date. We have important things to talk about, sweetheart," he answered, sending me an intense look that warned me not to defy him.

I gave in and got up.

"I will see you soon, okay." I hugged my parents as they walked us out the door. Waved goodbye, one last time as we got in the car and drove off through the sunset.

Andrew Pov

I'm glad I got along well with her parents. Especially her father, now he's an entertaining man. Dressing in a gray formal shirt, long sleeve with blue jeans, and a pair of brown shoes as I patiently waited for her downstairs, because she refused to change in front of me.

Will I sleep on the couch next?

Hearing footsteps were growing louder and louder. I looked up, there she was, in a navy blue casual dress with black heels, well not high heels more like wedges. Don't ask how I know that because of my ex, Emma Jenkins was a Shopaholic, spent most of my money buying clothes and shoes. Almost every day. I didn't mind about it until she cheated on me and kept denying it. My older sisters knew that she was trouble from the very beginning. But all I saw was a pretty blonde girl that I couldn't wait to call mine.

Funny how life works, things didn't work out after all. I ran my hand through my hair to fog the unpleasant memory. Focusing back at the girl that stood in front of me. She took my breath away.

Why do I sound like the modern version of Shakespeare?

"You look beautiful." I managed to say still drooling at her. I've never seen her like this before.

"T.Thanks." she blushes lowering her eyes at her feet to hide her shyness.

"Ready to go," I asked as I held out my hand, waiting for her to accept it.

She nodded and intertwined her hand with mine as we left to explore what the remaining of the evening had to offer.
