Two Paths (Sequel to Why Me)

The true identity

"Well then there would be a problem; if I die then you die."

"I don't believe you. You're just saying that so I would spare your life. I would remember something like that."

"What do you even remember?"

"Me serving my master my whole life. Now die."

Mariah started to form hand signs.

"Lightning style: One thousand birds current!" Mariah shouted as lightning covered her whole body.

She rushed towards Tadashi with a killing intent but he was calm and collected. She shot out her hand sending electricity towards him aiming for his heart. Effortlessly he formed an earth wall to block the attack which was successful. Mariah jumped over the wall and summoned her Paths which started to surround Tadashi.

"I know all of your moves Mariah. I can predict what you're going to do."

Mariah engaged Tadashi in Taijutsu which both were skilled at. Tadashi didn't fight back though, he merely dodged all of Mariah's attacks. She tried to kick him but he ducked and grabbed her leg throwing her but she landed on her feet.

"Why don't you fight back?" Mariah questioned in frustration.

"Because I don't wish to hurt you." Tadashi answered honestly.

"Then I'll do all the hurting!"

Mariah held out her hand summoning the Rasengan causing Tadashi to step a few steps back as did everyone else.

"Kakashi-sensei! We should help him!" Naruto shouted.

"No, he wants to do this on his own." Kakashi answered.

"But-"

"I said no Naruto."

Mariah held the Rasengan high in the air as it hovered over her hand. Tadashi braced himself for he knew what was going to happen next. Mariah threw the Rasengan at Tadashi which caused Naruto to gasp. The winds from the Rasengan were powerful making dust fly up into the air making it difficult to see. Tadashi knew how powerful her attack is; he knew that he couldn't use anything powerful enough to counter it.

He stood still as her attack came closer and closer. Once the Rasengan came closer Tadashi remained in his spot bracing himself. When it hit him he was sent flying across the field hitting a giant boulder. Mariah's face held a smirk of amusement at Tadashi's pain. Naruto was about to see if he was still alive but Kakashi grabbed his arm making him stay in place.

"Now, before we were interrupted where were we?" Mariah asked turning towards Naruto and the others.

"Mariah how could you do that! Tadashi is your friend!" Naruto shouted.

"I have no friends." She replied as she activated her curse mark.

She looked menacing. Naruto couldn't help but shiver at her intimidating appearance.

"Of course you do! Everyone at the Leaf is your friend!"

Mariah lunged for Naruto but was stopped by Gai. Taking out a kunai Mariah swung it at Gai cutting his cheek. He jumped back just before Mariah could stab him. Using her speed, Mariah appeared behind Gai kicking him on the back sending him towards Kakashi. Suddenly a barrage of kunai came from above impaling Mariah. Slowly she turned into paper which scattered causing the kunai to drop to the ground.

The paper scattered around on spot slowly forming Mariah again. Once she was completely formed she turned her head towards where the kunai were sent. Tadashi was standing on his feet; he was covered in blood and his clothes were tattered.

"So you're still alive?"

"Of course, if I died then you would've too."

"Still saying that.....pathetic."

"I only speak the truth."

Mariah held out her arm and her skin started to peel off of her looking like paper. She extended her paper like arm towards Tadashi but he blew fire towards it disintegrating the paper.  She activated her Renningan and held out her other arm. She pulled Tadashi towards her and pulled out her sword with her newly formed free hand ready to stab him in the heart. Once he was close enough, Tadashi grabbed the sword causing his hand to bleed. He ripped it out of Mariah's grasp and stabbed her stomach which sent her back a few inches.

"So *cough* you took on the *cough* offensive."

"I had to, either you kill both of us or I injure you and save our lives. Now, we have to break that genjutsu."

Mariah grabbed onto the sword pulling it out of her stomach. She sent out her multiple blades towards Tadashi but he gracefully jumped out of the way. It went towards the others as well but they were able to dodge it. She jumped back towards her master we was slowly getting up from his crouching position. Slowly he turned to everyone and what they saw made them gasp.

"You......you're.....OBITO?" Kakashi gasped.
