in which you invite your best friend Grayson on a double date.

Y/N's POV

A cocky grin formed on Grayson's face as he sunk the small ball perfectly on his first try. "Real impressive, Gray," I said sarcastically as he walked to stand beside me, taking the place of Liam who got ready to take his turn.

"Thanks Y/N, I appreciate the support," He replied with the same obvious sarcasm.

Liam swung his club and Grayson watched intently. I felt myself become annoyed at the fact that he was clearly ready to judge Liam's mini-golf skills as if he was waiting for an opportunity to him to mess up even slightly.

I know that Liam is not someone that I would actually see myself being with, but it doesn't hurt trying to get to know a person. It really wasn't as serious as Grayson was making it.

Liam hit the ball, way too hard, causing it to completely pass the hole, bounce off the edge on the path and roll back almost exactly to the point it started at.

Liam stepped away and stood beside Grayson's date with an exaggerated frown. The girl patted him on the shoulder and smiled at his terribly failed attempt

"It's really not that hard dude," Grayson said obnoxiously, causing me to scoff at his predictable behaviour.

"Grayson, can I talk to you for a second?" I didn't hide my irritation. He looked at me and began to protest but shut his mouth when he noticed the serious expression on my face.

I gripped onto his jacket and the two of us walked away. We stopped once out of earshot and I stood facing him with my back to our dates.

"What the fuck is your problem?" I half-whispered, half-yelled.

Grayson rolled his eyes and dramatically gestured towards Liam. "Come on, Y/N, he's a total loser."

I leaned forward as I continued to yell in a hushed tone. "I get that he's obviously not 'the one' but you don't need to be such an asshole and embarrass me all night."

"Why are you wasting your time though?" He asked, raising his voice the same way I had.

I let out a frustrated laugh. "I'm not wasting my time, Grayson, I'm just putting myself out there. Not every guy is going to be someone that I'd actually see myself with, and they sure as shit won't meet your bullshit standards."

Grayson's eyes narrowed as he looked past me, but I continued. "You've been stirring up drama all night for no reason. I get Liam is obviously not a perfect match, but he's not a bad person and you don't need to be so rude."

Grayson's face fell as he looked past me. "You might want to rethink that whole 'not a bad person' thing."

I turned to see what he was talking about and was met with the sight of Liam and his friend, closer than ever as he tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear.

I just let out a laugh. I'm not going to pretend like it didn't sting. I had full intentions of just never going out with Liam again, but having the guy you're with flirt with another girl while you're in the middle of a date still didn't feel very nice.

I placed my hand on my head and turned back to face Grayson. "The fucking rotten cherry on top of the terrible night." Grayson just frowned slightly as he looked at me.

"Let's just go," I said to him, walking past him and through the course, headed right for his car.

The drive back was quiet, save for the soft sounds of the music that played quietly through the speakers. I still needed to go back to Grayson's and Ethan's, as I had a couple of my things to grab before I went home.

I tiredly followed Grayson through the front door, immediately being greeted by Ethan, who asked how the night went.

"Couldn't have been worse," I said bluntly as I walked over to the living room to grab my charger.

"How come?" Ethan laughed.

I spoke quickly and without eye contact as I picked up my bag and stuffed my charger inside. "I chose a terrible date and Grayson has a terrible attitude."

Grayson groaned and Ethan looked between the two of us, finally noticing the tension. "Sorry I asked." He said, backing away and leaving to his room, a confused expression on his face.

"You're really still pissed?" Grayson spoke from across the room. This just made me more upset.

"Yeah Grayson, 10 minutes of sitting in silence in the car somehow didn't make you seem like less of a jerk."I pushed past him as I walked back toward the front door. He followed after me.

"Shit, my bad for trying to look out for you." He replied crossing his arms over his chest.

I let out a loud laugh. "Look out for me? You're real funny Grayson. It's like you want to fuck up all my possible relationships for no reason."

I felt myself becoming really mad all over again. Grayson just clenched his jaw as he stood in front of me.

"What really is your reason Gray? Honestly." I laughed in disbelief. "Because to me it really just seems like you're messing with me for fun at this point."

He shook his head. "That's not why." His voice was softer now, not angry, but still stubborn and blunt.

"Then what the hell is the reason?" I snapped, yelling at him.

He just sighed and ran his fingers through his hair. He let a few seconds pass before he spoke. "I was really hoping you'd find out on your own or something so I'd never have to tell you."

I was more confused than ever as I looked at him with my eyebrows knitted together. "What?" I asked rather rudely, suddenly very aware of my tone-of-voice compared to his more calm one.

Grayson sucked in a deep breath of air and shut his eyes. He nervously clasped his hands together and sighed, letting the air escape.

"Now or never." He mumbled lowly to himself, almost too quietly for me to hear. There was another pause and I involuntarily held my breath.

"I'm in love with you, Y/N."

My jaw dropped, but I quickly shut it. That isn't what I expected to hear. Not at all. I felt suddenly nervous standing in front of him.

It's not like the idea of being with him never crossed my mind, how could it not? For months the idea of being with him was the only thing that I could think about whenever I was around him. I just forced myself to push the thoughts away, figuring that he wouldn't feel the same way.

He's in love with me? God, he was good at hiding it. I furrowed my eyebrows. He actually really wasn't good at hiding it at all. Several scenarios of him subtly flirting or becoming upset when I discussed guys flashed through my mind. Wow, I'm stupid and blind. I made myself dismiss all of the little signs as the idea of him having feelings for me seemed so impossible. In my brain he was way out of my league.

"I get it if you don't feel the same way," He paused and sighed, "I just don't think I could go much longer without telling you."

It finally seemed to sink in and I couldn't stop myself from smiling. I immediately walked towards him, without even thinking.

"Me too," I said simply.

A hint of excitement flashed across his face. "What?" He asked, breaking into a small smile.

My smile grew. "I love you too," I said, taking another step closer to him. The grin on his face widened and he gripped lightly onto my waist, the feeling made my stomach feel like it was doing flips.

"Holy shit, this doesn't feel real right now." He beamed as he looked slightly down at me, causing me to laugh.

"You're telling me."

He pulled me in closer to him as he placed his lips against mine. I gripped onto his shirt as the kiss deepened, sending shivers all the way up and down my spine. I felt him smiling into the kiss before pulling away, leaving us only a few inches apart.

"You guys were literally screaming at each other like 3 minutes ago." Ethan raised an eyebrow and continued, "Glad you guys seem to have made up though."
