Enzo showed Lyla the rest of the house, including a game room with a pool table and a place to play table tennis. She wasn't surprised to see a full bar against one of the walls. Of course, he would be able to afford all of this, she thought to herself.

Then, he showed her his room with its own adjoined bathroom the size of a locker room. And there was a hot tub- a freaking hot tub all to himself.

"Do you... if you want, you can use it," Enzo says, nodding to their surroundings. Even though he would look away from Lyla for a moment, he would quickly turn his attention back to her to see her reaction.

"The hot tub?" Lyla asked in disbelief. She found the idea of using his hot tub intimate. Hell, he probably used it on a daily basis and he was offering it to her.

"Yes, of course." Enzo lowered his gaze, glancing around the bathroom. "Just let me know so I can show you how to turn it on and off, and adjust the temperature."

Lyla nodded, unable to find the strength to speak. She couldn't believe his sudden change in attitude. Any moment now, he would snap at her and turn back into the asshole version of Enzo Cortez.

A phone vibrated and for a second, Lyla thought it was her own phone, but she remembered that she hadn't used one ever since Enzo took her away from her home. She had gotten used to not using her phone, and he hadn't bothered getting her a new one- considering that she was his prisoner. Why would he?

Enzo took his phone out of his pocket and glanced at the screen quickly before putting it away. "Isa says that everyone is going out for dinner. I would ask you if you wanted to join them, but that would mean meeting everyone else and I don't think you're ready for that," he explained. "But I'll ask you anyways. Do you want to go with them?"

Lyla shook her head, confident about her answer. "I met Isa and Felix today, and I'm tired after shopping and hanging out with them. I think that's enough socializing for today," she admitted, not wanting to sound antisocial.

Enzo tilted his head slightly, watching her with hooded eyes. "That's what I thought as well."

Lyla couldn't help but stare back at him, timidly smiling. Enzo was a little cocky, but she was starting to think that he did it to be funny and to impress her.

All of a sudden, he cleared his throat and straightened his posture. "Why don't you... use the hot tub right now? I'll go downstairs and see if any of the maids are still downstairs so they can prepare us dinner."

Lyla smirked and nodded her head. "Sure. I'd like that," she said, walking past him into the bathroom.

It only took a few seconds for Enzo to show her how to use the hot tub before he left to go downstairs. As Lyla waited for it to heat up, she hummed a song that she knew and pulled her hair out of her messy ponytail.

She heard a car pull up the driveway and wondered who it might be. She thought that everyone had left, unless... someone was arriving.

Lyla glanced out of the small bathroom window, frowning when she didn't see any cars outside. She could've sworn that she heard something. Getting a terrible feeling in her gut, Lyla stepped away from the window and walked out of the bathroom in search of Enzo to tell him what she had heard.

Halfway down the stairs to the first floor, a loud crash echoed across the near-empty estate. The sound of glass breaking pierced Lyla's ears as she winced, coming to a halt at the end of the staircase.

The first thing that she saw was the shattered window in the moonlight. Apart from that, the room was dark and disturbingly quiet.

"En-" she started to say, but she was cut off when a hand covered her mouth and a strong arm wrapped around her waist, pulling her against someone's chest. Lyla instinctively reached back to kick the person, but she froze when she recognized the person's voice.
