RESCUE MISSION (CHAPTER 12)

7 1 1

I kept running for what seemed like ages. I had no real destination ,and I couldn't tell what the time was. Once I realised I didn't know where I was I began to slow down and gradually stopped. I hadn't noticed the impact the betrayal had on me until I stopped and my legs became weak forcing me to sit down on the curb. I was sad, confused and hurt all at the same time and because I had never felt like that before I didn't know how to deal with it.

So now I am lost, tired, scared and alone with only one person I could call. David. I wasn't even sure if he would care after the way I treated but it was the only thing I could think of doing at a time like this. So I took out my phone and dialled his number.

"Hello" David's voice came out all hoarse like he had just woken up. That's when I checked my phone and notice that it was three in the morning.

"I'm so sorry that I woke you up"

"Beth? Is that you?"

"Yeah" the tine of my voice had a hint of disappointment in it, but I wasn't at David, it was at myself.

"What's wrong, are you in trouble, did something happen" David spoke super quickly with a carding voice making me feel slightly loved.

"No I'm fine...... Well sought of"

"What do you mean sought of?"

"Well, I think it would be easier for me to tell you in person."

"Is it about Jason?"

"Yes" by then my voice was quite, so quite I thought David might not be able to hear me. But he did, he always managed to hear me.

"Well I'll come and get you, are you still at the party?"

"No" my voice kept getting softer and softer as I began to feel guilty.

"What do you mean, where are you Beth?" He sounded worried but annoyed at the same time. I started feeling bad for bringing him into my Problems and waking him up at three in the morning.

"I'll explain everything, right now I just need you."

"Ok, where are you then."

"Ummm......... I don't..... Know." I was really scared to heR his reaction to me being alone and lost in the dark at this time.

"Ok, well can you find a street name or anything that will give me a clue?" He was surprisingly calm.

"Um, one second."

I began looking around for some clue of to where I was. I stumbled upon a bowling ally around the corner and decided that would be good enough.

"I'm near the 'Thunder Bowling Ally'. Does that help at all?"

"We'll soon fined our" he always knew how to make me laugh even if it was something as stupid as a comment.

"Ok. See you when I see you then."

"Beth wait. Please wait inside the bowling ally. I want you to be safe ok?"

"Ok"

I hung up and walked towards the bowling ally. Lucky it was open 24/7 otherwise I would have been left waiting outside in a neighbour hood I didn't know, and to make things worse it was starting to get cold and looked like it might rain.

I walked inside, surprised by how many people were bowling at this time. When I closed the door I turned around to find a perky girl in her early 20's greet me with a smile. I smiled back to be polite even though I wasn't exactly a 'happy camper, right now.

"Hi, welcome to Thunder Bowling. What can I do for you?"she seemed too happy for three in the morning and it was bugging me.

"I'm just waiting for someone, is it ok if I just sit down until he gets here?"

"Of course it is, you having a date with your boyfriend?" Here smile grew impossibly bigger an before.

"No, I'm just getting picked up."

"Ok sure, here let me take you to a table" she walked me over to a booth in the corner of the establishment and dat me down.

"Can I get you anything to drink?"

"Ahh could I just get a glass of water?" Running for how ever long I did really took the energy out of you.

"Yeah sure." She left to the bar and I was left alone with my thoughts.

I couldn't help but think about what had happened earlier. I couldn't help but think about what Jason was doing now, was he looking for me or did he stay behind with Casey? My thought were interrupted when the waitress returned with my water, thankfully. I didn't want think about it anymore but for some reason I couldn't stop.

"Here you go dear."

"Thanks."

"Anything else I can get you? Some food?"

"No I'm good thanks." I forced a smile so I didn't hurt her feelings, just because I'm pissed and hurt doesn't mean I need to ruin anyone else's day.

She turned around and walked away, again I was left alone with my depressing thoughts. I was at least glad that I had a session with Mandy tomorrow. That's when I started thinking, what about my dad. Had he noticed I was gone, what would he say if he did. I am sure to get a beating for this. Thinking about the way he treats me gave me the thoughts of running ways, well walking, I have done enough running to last me the rest of the year. I thought if I left right now, no one would know where I went, were I was, except David.

While I was contemplating my options, my phone started to ring. I checked who it was and the caller ID flashed the name Jason Martin. I huffed and put my phone back on the table. I didn't have the energy nor strength to talk to him right now, or ever. I just wanted David to hurry up and get here so I get to a bed and sleep off this awful feeling

After the phone call with Beth

I jumped out of bed and out on a pair of black jeans and a white shirt. I ran down the stairs and grabbed the keys to my parents car form the bowl. Once I reached the car I suddenly realised I didn't know where I was going. I pulled out my phone and googled Thunder Bowling, the address popped up and I out it into my GPS. I started the car and off I went.

The bowling alley was over an hour away, I couldn't understand how she got that far away from the party. Or even worse, what Jason had done to make her go that far. It must have been something bad, otherwise she wouldn't have gone such a distance.

I pulled into the parking lot of the establishment and notice there were actually a few cars around despite the time. I checked my watch witch read 4:15 am. I walked in looking around for Beth. I spotted here in the back corner in one of the booths, asleep. She looked like shit, her eyes were red and puffy, her hair was everywhere and her dress was dirty. Yet she looked so peaceful. I decided to carry her to the car and not wake her up. I put her arm around my neck and then one hand on her back and the other under knees, carrying her bridal style. She moved slightly and I thought she was waking up, but she was just repositioning herself to get comfortable and then stopped. I walked out into the parking lot and to my car, I opened the door to the back and laid her down across the seats. I closed the door and walked over to the drivers seat. I figured her house wouldn't be the best place as her dad would be angry, so I decided to bring her back to mine.
