The maurader's managed to make an invisibility cloak which covers just the persons nose. They made it so it would never come off and so that it projected an image of slits. They put this on Voldemort who never noticed it because he never looked in the mirror because he didn't want to look at himself. To the day he died he always wondered why people made nose jokes around him.
