Chapter thirty seven- Do we?

Start from the beginning

" I know. And I'm sorry"

" There's no need apologising, it's already done" I sighed.

" Should I still say something to her?"

" No Dad, they're already far gone. At this point all we can give them is our blessings"

He chuckled on the phone at my words then continued.

" This is the most positive I've ever heard from you" he said with a glint of laughter in his voice which only made me to laugh even though all I want to do right now is scream.

" Some situations require odd reactions"

" Good night son. And I hope you're not taking whiskey by this hour?"

What the..?

" How do you know?" I honestly wanted to laugh at this situation but I just got caught red handed.

" You have a very odd way of calming your anger. Now put that thing away"

So I laughed... Not a big deal.

Surprisingly, I needed just two people to get me in a positive mood.

Dylan and Dad, but it seems Dylan's gone to bed although he did make this afternoon a little fun.

" I will. Goodnight Dad"

" Night son"

  Then the receiver went dead.

I got up from my chair to return the bottle of whiskey back to the bar and took a carton of fruit juice from the fridge in the kitchen.

What can I say? I can be obedient sometimes.

When I had sat back down, I began hearing tiny footsteps and there's only one person with such movements.

I looked to the right and saw Louisa in a kiddies night gown, with a little teddy bear in her right hand.

" Aren't you supposed to be in bed?" I asked her as she walked up to me.

" I was sleeping, then I woke up and I was alone in the room so I can't sleep again" she said with a tiny groggy voice as she rubbed her eyes with her free hand and stood in front of me.

" You wanna watch some TV?" I asked her as her eyes were almost half mast closed.

She's still sleepy but won't just sleep alone.

She shook her head in a no and brought out her two hands to me.

At first I was confused but I realized soon enough.

She wanted me to carry her.

So I lifted her by her arms and craddled her to my chest before she released a sigh and within seconds, she was out like a light.

After watching a movie, I decided to go through the news and nothing out of the ordinary was on.

Weather, politics and business profits and loss.

" Jesus Christ what did you do to her!?"

Then Dylan's voice came from the stairs.

He looks livid, like I had spikes for teeth and horns for an ear.

" What is wrong with you? Why are you shouting!?"

He ran down the steps and rushed to where I was seated, using his eyes to scan the sleeping baby in my arms.

" Did you sedate her?"

  What in the actual fuck!?

" How would I sedate a kid?"

" Then why is she sleeping in your arms?"

He actually looked confused and it made me laugh at him.

" She said she couldn't sleep so she came to sleep here"

" She what!?"

" Dylan quiet down, you'll wake her up"

His eyes were still as wide as disco balls before he said something.

" Since when did you start craddling kids?"

To be honest, three weeks ago.

" I don't know"

Then he glared with a playful smirk on his face.

" You have mommy instincts in you"

Dylan!

" Tomorrow morning, thank Louisa for sleeping in my arms because I would have broken your nose two seconds ago"

He found my threat quite amusing and walked straight into the kitchen.

Time to go lie this baby down before her mama gets home.

We don't want that now, do we?
