Flare

"You must have a good reason why you escaped the Institute for the second time around, Lady Regent." kalmado ngunit may diin nitong wika.

I'm inside the Head Mistress' Hall. Pagkatapos kong makabalik ng Institute ay siya kaagad ang bumungad sa akin sa tarangkahan. So technically, I know she wanted an explanation.

"Mapapalampas ko ito noong una kang tumakas pero ngayon nakadepende ang lahat sa magiging rason mo." Napabuga ako ng malalim na hininga. I cross my legs as I gave her a stern look.

"Do you have booze here?" Nagkasalubong ang kilay niya.

"Only on special occasions." she replied.

"You don't allow liquors so I escaped to find one and drink it." sagot ko rito sa pinakasimpleng paraan na alam ko.

"That's it?" she said with an unbelievable expression on her face. Nakikita kong para sa kaniya ay napakababaw na dahilan 'yon.

"Why did you suddenly have the urge to get drunk? Something happened? Someone broke your heart?" Her last question left me hanging, and I'm sure as hell she noticed it.

"Oh, so someone got your heart broken." I rolled my eyes. As if!

"I have lots of things to do, so if you won't give me any punishments or whatsoever, I'll get going." Akmang tatayo na ako nang bigla na lang siyang sumulpot sa harapan ko.

Nakaupo ito sa upuang nasa tapat ko't gayang-gaya nito ang postura ko. I gave her my bored look. I want this done. For some reasons, I felt tired. Ayaw ko nang maraming sat-sat.

"I'm giving you a punishment." Nanatili lang akong nakatingin sa kaniya habang hinihintay ang kung ano man ang sasabihin niya.

"Name it." I saw something menacing in her eyes. Mahahalata mo sa mga mata niyang may binabalak siya. I tried to read her mind but something's blocking me.

"You need to clean the Pavilion Garden for three days." Hindi kaagad ako nakaimik.

Sa palagay ko nananadya siya. She had eyes all around the Institute. Hindi na ako magugulat kung alam niyang iniiwasan ko sila.

"And if I won't?"

"You have to deal with all the memorials in two weeks. Hindi ka rin makakalabas ng Institute." If she'll do that I can just escape once again.

"Ever heard of House Arrest? That's what I'm gonna do with you during those two weeks if you won't do your punishment." she added.

House Arrest?

"And because you are special, I'll give you a nullifying amulet." Napangiwi ako. Talagang gagawin niya ang lahat para lang gawin ko ang gusto niya.

"Fine, I'll do it."  Tumayo na ako, ngunit hindi pa man ako tuluyang nakakahawak sa siradura ng pinto ay nagsalita na naman siyang muli.

"Someone's waiting in your quarters by the way. He's the lost son of one of the Court Magistrate of the Fire Tribe. Tour him around and let him know the things he should know."  Hindi na lang ako sumagot pa't lumabas na.

Great, just great, and there I thought I could finally take a rest.

Napakamot na lang ako ng batok. I was rolling my eyes while walking in the corridor. Maaga pa kaya kokonti lang ang mga estudyanteng pakalat-kalat sa paligid.  They are giving me stares, but the heck I care anyway.
