Chapter 26

My face heats up.

CONNOR.EXE HAS STOPPED WORKING.

I quickly turn the phone off, my heart racing, and go to sleep.

Evan's pov:

I stumble out of bed, getting ready for school.

I hate Mondays.

Jared picks me up and starts driving to school.

"Any progress?" He asked

I shake my head.

"Why??"

"I was... I haven't visited him," I inform.

He sighs. "Hey, I know it's probably really hard, but you have to face him."

I open my mouth to protest. "But-"

"- do you want to pretend you guys never were dating?" He cuts off.

"No...I want what we had before... that..."

"Exactly, so you better visit him. And when you do, march right over to that f*cker and say, 'I'm your boyfriend,  just reminding you', ok?"

I blush.  "Jared! That's-! I'll be embarrassed!"

"My dude, do you want him or not?"

"I want him," I admit.

"Then go get him!" Jared parks the car,  and we go into the crowded halls.

1st period flew by really quickly,  and we were headed to Arts.

As soon as I step in,  familiar brown hair caught my eyes.
Connor.

Jared nudges me towards him. 

I stumble, almost falling on him.

Almost.

My cheeks flush.  "I'm so sorry, I-"

"-Hey, Evan," he smiles from his seat.

My heart pounds. "H... hi," I stammer.

Connor points to the empty desk next to him.  "Sit there."

I nod, taking the seat beside him.

He faces me. "Uh... so...I have some news, " he starts.

My stomach sinks. "I know you don't remember me, so-"

"- no, it's good news."

"What is it?" I ask.

He grins. "The doctors said that my memory loss is temporary! So it'll all eventually come to me within a month or so,  supposedly."

My face lights up.  "That's great!" I smile.

He turns red before looking at his nails.  "Uh, yeah... I...  I guess..."

I giggle. "Aw, you're so cu-"

"- Evan, Connor, please pay attention," Ms. Canigula's voice interrupts. She leans over to us.
"You can flirt after class, " she whispers before winking and heading back to the front.

Connor and I blush.

The bell rang again, and everyone started packing up.

I leave and halfway to my 3rd class, someone puts a hand on my shoulder.

I turn around to find Connor.

"You should've waited for me," he sighs.

"Oh, sorry, " I apologize.

He waves hand through the air. "It's fine."

He then proceeds to link my hand with his.

I blush profusely.  "Connor, I think.. uh,  your hands.. it's malfunctioning, " I stutter.

I face him, seeing he was blushing as much as I am.

"No, it's fine," he blurts, "We both like this anyways. "

I laugh and roll my eyes.  "Well, that's true."

"Yeah, I remember we're dating, so..." Connor trailed off.

I grin. "You remembered! That's great! Connor,  I'm so proud of yo-"

"- Not so loud!" He hissed, covering his face in embarrassment.

"Am I running your emo reputation," I joke.

He laughs.  "You are,  but you're definitely worth it!"

Now it's my turn to blush. "Aww, thank you!"

Jared runs and jumps in behind us,  wrapping his arms behind both of us. "Time to get to class, gays! We'll be late!"

"Alright, now get off before I kick you, " Connor rolls his eyes.

I laugh,  "Oh my fern, Connor."

"Guess Murphy still hasn't changed from being a d*ck," Jared teases.

"Well we better get to class," Connor suggests, purposely ignoring Jared's previous comment.

I nod.

Jared then runs off to his class. "Bye!! Stay sober!"

Connor face-palms.

After a few seconds,  I speak up. "When do you think you'll remember everything?"

Connor hesitates before answering.  "Honestly,  I don't know." He squeezes my hand, giving a small smile.  "You'll stick with me though,  right?"

I squeeze back. "Of course! I'll wait as long as it takes."

Connor pulls us into a corner and kisses me passionately.

Faces all red, we go to class.

Connor's pov:

After school,  I went home.

"You're so happy nowadays," Cynthia- er, Mom observes,  "What happened?"

I grin.

As I head up the stairs,  I reply,
"You could say I...

stepped into the sun."
