Her breaths came in sharp.
Short... laboured.
Sweat ran down her face...
Her mind blank like slate.
Her face contorted in pain.
Her screams filled with terror.

And what was the cause of her dilemma?
It was the words of a child unfiltered.
He spewed them out.
Venomous and uncaring.
He lashed her mind with his tongue.
Broke her spirit with words.
Killed her soul with his attitude.

And now her she lay...
Gasping.

Oh you fool.
Get on your knees.
Pat her back gently.
Rock her... to-and-fro.
Till from that point on fear...
High above,
She climbs down.

You stupid child.
Dab her face with a soft wet cloth.
Wipe her tears with your thumb.
Sooth her fear with a soft kiss.
Whisper calming words in her ears.
Till the world of calmness is established to her again.

Belligerent oaf!
How many times have I warned you?
Your words are life.
And now see?
Look what you've done.
See as you've brought her tears.
Compounded her Palin.
Increased her misery!

Sooth her...
Sooth her now before my patience with you...
I gone.

Calm her...
Calm her down before my wrath against you...
Is borne.

Hold her...
Hold her now before my anger is kindled hot...
And burns you till you're gone.

In his anguish at her suffering...
She...
Who's name he knew not...
He knelt down and begged.
He wiped her tears.
Rocked her gently.

His heart beat fastly.
Nothing like this...
Had he ever seen.
The sheer terror...
The absolute pain...
The unbelievable fear...
Etched on her face.

It weakened him...
To know he did this.
Destroyed him...
To know he started it.
It finished him...
To see his handiwork.
It broke him...
To hear her sobbing.

In his heart he knows...
His words can be taken back.
They've been casted out already.
Like stones in a pond.
Like an eggshell that's been cracked.

But this he could do.
He could...
From the depths of his heart...
From the absolute dregs of his soul...
He could apologize.
And stretch his hand in friendship.

And as I watch,
I see his repentance...
And I hope that he has learned his lesson.

For words...
Once spoken...
May never be...

Forgotten.
