What urge overtook me to write one of these:
A book full of rhythmical allegories?
Could I write a preface without using rhymes?
I've tried to, my friends—I've tried hundreds of times.
But sayings of mine end with just such a sound
As surely a similar word can be found
To ring with the end of a verse such as this,
And voila, we're left with a rhyming preface.
So here is a book packed with stories and things
Like tragedies, triumphs, that circumstance brings.
You'll read about characters striving with fate
And learning to love in a world full of hate,
And with their adventures may you resonate.
