While I laid there.

Out with the family,

Running across the seaside,

Everything was going well,

Until the coming of the tide.

At first it came in slow,

It was just below my knees,

I thought nothing of it,

And walked along with ease.

A large fierce wave appeared,

Knocking me to the ground,

The force had me alarmed,

I was holding my breath- awaiting a sound.

I couldn’t resurface,

I couldn’t hold my breath for long,

The waves were crashing down,

The wind was getting strong.

I opened my mouth,

The water filled me,

I was dragged under,

Deeper into the sea.

I was completely still,

On the Coral Sea bed,

The lively fish swam around,

While I lay there...dead.
