It was Father's Day, and you and Tom had gone to his parents' house to visit his family and celebrate Father's Day with them. Normally, you loved going to visit his family - they were always so kind and attentive, and they loved you. This time, however, you were incredibly nervous. You had a secret that you had yet to share with anyone, Tom included.
You and Tom had been married for almost three years, and within the past year, the two of you decided that you were going to try for a baby. Both of you had really wanted kids from the get-go, but you decided to wait a little bit, for the sake of Tom's career. Now, after a few months of trying, you were finally pregnant. While you knew that both of you really wanted a baby (Tom was desperately wishing for one), and you knew that both of your families would be supportive, you were still nervous to tell anyone.
Because it was Father's Day, you figured that there was no better way to announce the news. Anyways, you were almost three months now, and soon, it would get harder to hide the pregnancy. You knew that Tom could tell something was up with you, but he didn't say anything.
When everyone sat down around the table for dinner, you became so much more nervous. You'd planned to do it at dinner. You were no longer hungry, but you didn't want to be rude, so you ate as much as you could, and then ended up pushing some of it around on the plate.
You were in your own little world as Tom set his hand on your knee and leaned in closer to you, pressing a soft kiss to your cheek as he whispered to you, "You okay, love?"
Nodding your head, you looked up to see that his whole family was looking at you. You managed a smile before clearing your throat, "I, um, actually have something to tell all of you..." You trailed off as they waited patiently for you to continue, "I'm pregnant, actually." The words had all come out in a rush, but they had all clearly understood what you'd said, most of their expressions read as shocked, but excited.
Tom quickly grabbed your hand, staring at you with wide eyes, "Are you serious, Y/N?" You nodded in response, a blush coming up on your cheeks. Tom's face broke out in the biggest smile you'd ever seen as he pulled you into his chest for a tight hug, not wanting to let you go.
You couldn't help but laugh as he scattered kisses all across your face, "I thought you'd figured it out!"
He shook his head, pressing a kiss to your lips. "No," he said, shocked, "I knew you were acting weird, but I guess I just didn't piece it together."
At that moment, Tom's parents both stood up and came to your side of the table. His mom gave you the biggest hug, exclaiming, "I'm going to be a grandma!" This was going so well.
Tom's dad grinned at him, giving Tom a hug as well, "Happy Father's Day to you too, Tommy!"
