would kill it.

"Go! Shoo!" I whispered, motioning with my hands. Luke just sat there, looking at my confused.

I groaned, trying to find something to throw. I found a stick laying a couple feet away. It was a stretched, but I got it.

"Puppy want the stick?" I whispered, waving it back and forth. Luke followed it hypnotized. I knew they were coming closer to entering.

I threw the stick. Luke ran after it. The door opened. Heavy footsteps came down.

I prayed Luke would stay away.

I closed my eyes, falling on my side painfully. I just hoped my face didn't portray the pain I was in at the moment.

"Here's your food" I heard john say, pushing a plate towards me.

My eyes fluttered open as I observed four legs standing before me. Slowly, I moved my sight upwards towards the heads.

Both looked down at me curiously, taking in the state I was in.

I closed my eyes, resting my head against the cold pavement. I didn't care about the food. I wished they would just go away. I couldn't afford letting

them see the puppy that was hidden down here.

"Girl. Eat your food" John snapped at me "Ungrateful bitch.."

"Dude chill. Can you not see the bruises on her?" Clayton said. I smiled inwardly at the fact that at least someone was defending me

"I don't care" John growled "Its to fucking dark anyways"

"Why are you being such a douche bag, man" Clayton yelled. "She hasn't done anything to us yet!"

"She's hypnotizing you, dude! She's got you wrapped around her fingers! You think she's harmless but she isn't!"

"I know girls in general aren't, but she's... different. Can't you see how confused she is?!"

"NO. BECAUSE I'M TRYING TO AVOID BEING BRAIN-WASHED"

"I'M NOT BRAIN-WASHED YOU DICK"

"YES YOU ARE"

Clayton slammed a fist into John's jaw, a sickening crack throughout the basement. There was silence. It enveloped the room.

Tension rose.

Something hit the floor, a ping sounding from it.

"Fuck you man. I'm outta here"

"Don't come back"

"I don't plan on it"

"Go get wasted. See what happens"

"I'm going to!"

"Get out of my house"

"Whatever dude. I don't' even care if you get brain-washed."

Foot steps headed up the stairs, the door slamming shut. Clayton waited a few moments before doing anything. I lay as still as I could on the

ground, trying to be forgotten.

Unfortunately, for whatever reason, I wasn't.

Clayton knelt down beside me. I opened my eyes enough to see him watching me. Hesitantly, he reached out a hand, touching my shoulder. I

squeezed my eyes shut in pain.

"Shh" he whispered, taking his fingers away. Clayton trailed them down my arm, watching my eyes for any sign of pain. He reached my fingertips,

stopping.

Clayton rested his hand atop mine.

He watched me

I watched him

Neither of us moved.

"Your stomach looks horrible" He whispered, eyes moving towards it. I bit my lip, feeling pain once I thought about it.

I nodded as best I could. I couldn't speak. I could barely move. I was afraid.

"There's going to be a storm tonight. Would you like to sleep upstairs with me?" He asked, not realizing how awkward that was. I barely knew him,

he was my kidnapper and already I was being forced into two awkward situations.

"I n-need to eat" I whispered, looking at the food

"Oh. Yes, of course." He said, "I'll be upstairs if you need me"

I waited until he left the area before diving into the food. I split it in half, moving anything a dog would eat to one side. I figured the poor puppy hadn't

had anything to eat in days.
