Chapter 4

Jiji's P.O.V. (D-31 till exams)
I woke up today not from my alarm, but a call, specifically from my mother. "Yeoboseyo?" I said sleepily. "Jina, did I wake up from your sleep? Jeongmal Mianhae." My mother said. "Ani, why are you calling me?" I asked her. "Well, your father got into debt again and we need 500000 won by today...can you help us? We just need 250000 won." She asked pleadingly. "MWO?! Appa got into debt again?! How many times have I told him to stop gambling!" I said. "Arra, Arra, but we need the money now urgently, can you transfer it before you go to school?" She asked once again. "Arraseo, annyeong." I said before hanging up. I let out a sigh, 'there goes my food for this month.' I thought. "I need to look for another part time job on weekends." I mumbled before getting up and getting ready for school. I stopped by the bank and tranferred money before going to school of course. I went to Jae and Jun as soon as I reached school. "Annyeong. Did you sleep well yesterday?" Jun asked me. "Barely, I slept at midnight yesterday. By the way, do you guys know of any weekend part-time jobs with good pay?" I asked them. "Did your mum call again?" Jae asked. "Yes..and my food for the month is gone too." I let out a sigh. "Aigoo poor baby." Jae said pinching my cheeks. I felt a push on my shoulder suddenly, causing me to wince in pain. I looked up and saw Chanwoo winking at me. "What's wrong?" Jae asked as he touched my shoulder. "Ow, don't touch it. A box if drinks fell on my shoulder yesterday at the store." I told Jae. "Mian. You've been through a lot." Jae said. "But my friend recently opened a coffee shop near here that pays fairly well, 6000 won per hour." Jun joined in the conversation. "Jinjja? I'll go see it today, thanks Jun." I said. "No problem, I'll tell him you're coming today." He said. "Thanks." The bell for the next class then rang.

*AFTER CLASS, LUNCH*

"Wow that pop quiz was hard." Jae complained to me. "It wouldn't be if you studied ya know." I said. "Eish, I get, you're smart." He said and slapped my arm. "Ow. I told you to don't hit my arm." I said to him. "Mian mian, I'm used to it. Why don't you go to the nurse to see how bad it is, you look like you are in a lot of pain." Jae advised me. "Maybe later." I told Jae and went into the cafeteria. "Over here!" Jun called us. "Jagiya, how was class?" Jae asked Jun and they had a conversation, leaving me out. "Oppa, feed me please." Everyine heard Yeri say to Chanwoo. "Ew, guys, I'm skipping lunch." I told Jun and Jae and returned my lunch. I went to the nurses office to hang out there. As I went in, I saw someone sleeping on the bed so I whispered "Ms. Lee, is he sleeping?" I asked Ms. Lee. Ms. Lee was like a teacher-bestfriend to me, I would always go to her when I have girl problems. "I think so, he just came in and slept." She whispered back. "Why are you here?" She asked. "Can you help me see my shoulder, I dropped a box of drinks on it yesterday and it hurts quite bad." I told her. "Sit down, I'll check it." And I obeyed. She pulled down the collar and looked at my shoulder. "Ouch, this must hurt right? Why didn't you be careful, there's a bruise here already." She told me. "Is it bad?" I asked. "Yup, if there is a big pressure in it, your muscle might tear. I'll apply some medicine and wrap it with a bandage, but taking care of it is your job." She said. "Come in everyday so I can change the medicine." She saud again. "Ne." I replied and she pulled my collar up. "Lunch is almost over, go back to class." She said and I left the room.

*AFTER SCHOOL*
"Ppali gaja, my friend is waiting for us." Jun said, signalling us to hurry up. We arrived at the cafe and boy was it comfortable. The chais were lined with a soft, fluffy cushion and the workplace was neat and tidy. "Annyeonghaseyo, you might be Jina right?" A man came up to me, reaching out his hand for me to shake. "Annyeinghaseyo, ne, Park Jina imnida." I said shaking his hand. "HyeonJun, what's up bro." That man said as he bro-hugged Jun. "I'm good, how's the Cafe?" Jun asked. "It's going great, the cafe is quite busy these days." The man said. "Oh yes, Jina, this is Im Yonghwe, he is the owner of this cafe." Jun introduced me. I bowed and smiled. "Let's get down to business, shall we?" Yonghwe said as he sat down on the chair. 3 of us sat down opposite him with me in the middle. "So you will be working here on the weekends from 11am-8.30pm, and you will get paid 6000 won per hour. Is that okay?" He asked me. "Yes." I said. "Ok, just sign here and you can start working this saturday." He said. "Thank you so much." I said after signing the paper and shaking his hand. I checked the clock and saw that I was late for my job. "See you guys! I'm late." I shouted, running.

"Jina! You're late!" I heard Geoul exclaim as I entered the shop, Geoul is the person taking the shift before me. "Mianhae, I was busy with work." I said as an excuse. "Aish, stop pissing me off. I'm getting off work." She said as she walked past me. I sighed and put down my bag before wearing the work apron. I heard the bell of the door ring, making me stop working on my homework. "Jina? Is that you?" I heard a familiar voice say. I looked at the customers and saw Bobby and Hanbin looking at me. "So this is why you come in your uniform when you go to tutor Chanwoo." Hanbin said. "Can you just buy your stuff and leave?" I told them. "Sheesh, fine." They said before walking in and browsing the things. They bought 7 cups of instant noodles and a pack of yoghurt. "Why are you buying 'peasant' food, don't you have maids to cook you fancy food at home?" I askes them I checked out their stuff. "Nah, we don't like going out that early. Why are you working here?" They replied. "I need money of course." I said placing their things into the plastic bag and passing it to them. "Okay..work hard." Bobby said tapping on the counter before they started to walk to the exit. "Jina, I'm here." I heard someone say. "Oppa! Why are you early again?" I asked Haeil. "Oppa? Who's that? Why is she calling him Oppa." Hanbin whispered to Bobby but I heard it. "None of your business, now leave." I told them and they left. "Who are they?" Haeil asked me as he placed his belongings beside mine. "Some annoying boys from my school." I said. "Yah, did you see the look on Ms. Oh's face?" I heard an obnoxious laughter as a group of girls came in. They looked like they just came from school and they were from middle school. "I know right?!" Another exclaimed. "Yah, yah, that oppa is handsome!" Another girl say as she looked at Haeil's way. "Omo! jal saeng-gyeoss-eo, all the girls would be jealous if I walked to school with that guy." A girl said. "I know right?! Go get him Seulbi." The girl on the left said. "I'll do it after, baegopa." The girl named Seulbi said. They went to the shelves and got 3 cups of instant noodles. They paid and went to the seats at the back and started eating. "Looks like they're gonna be hitting on you again." I whispered the Haeil and he just chuckled. They made a mess while eating, soup and noodles were everywhere, they also made a lot of noise. Before exiting, they approached the counter. "Oppa, I'm Seulbi, can I have your number?" Seulbi asked and the other girls giggled. "Joesonghabnida, but I don't give other people my number. Shouldn't you girls be studying diligently instead if dating?" Haeil said with a smile. "Oppa, don't be like that, I may be young, but I'm very mature. Plus, what's wrong with making friends?" She said. "Mianhae, but I already have a girlfriend." He replied. "Jinjja? Nugu?" The girl asked once again. "Her." He said as he grabbed and waist. My jaw dropped and I had a mental breakdown. "Tsk, let's go." The girl said as they left. "Oppa, couldn't you make up another excuse?" I said as I beat him on the arm. "Ow, Mian, I could only think of that excuse." He replied. I took a wet cloth and went to the seats and cleaned up the place.

"Oppa, annyeong." I waved to Haeil before leaving. I arrived at Chanwoo's house and went it after the maid opened the door again. This time I didn't bother to knock and just went in. I looked around and saw that Chanwoo wasn't here so I sat at the desk and finished up my homework. After awhile I wanted to get some water since I was thirsty so I got up from my seat and opened the door. As I opened the door, I saw a Half-naked Chanwoo infront of me. We stared at each other for a few seconds before realising the situation. "AHJHHHHHHHHHHHHH" We screamed at the same time. I covered my eyes and my face turned red. I ran out and Chanwoo ran in the room, locking the door. "What happened?!" The maid said, running up the stairs. "Huh? O-oh n-nothing, I just saw a....A SPIDER, yes, a spider so I screamed." I stuttered. The maid calmed down and went downstairs again. I knocked and let a a breath to calm myself before going in the room again. I saw Chanwoo sitting there like nothing happened, doing his work. "Joesonghabnida, I shouldn't have came in without your permission." I said as I bowed. "A-ani, I should be the one apologising and thanking you. Sorry for shouting yesterday, and thanks for redoing my work for me." He said as calm as possible. "In that case..I forgive you." I said as I sat down. We started on our works and acted as if nothing happened. In the middle of the session, I asked "Chanu, I don't have to come on weekends right? I'm busy then." I asked him. "Why not? You just don't wanna come because of your boyfriend, right?" He said. "Mwo?!" I exclamied. I realised what he said and laughed like crazy. I was on the verge of tears from laughing so much. "neo michyeoss-eo?" Chanu asked. "Ani. Did Hanbin and Bobby tell you that? Gosh they misunderstood so much. By the way, are you jealous?" I asked him. "No! I-I" "Don't make an excuse. I know you are, I'm busy on weekends because I have a job." I told him. He rolled his eyes and continued doing his work. "Then what's the situation?" He asked without looking and I told him the situation. "Oh, it's late, I gotta go!" I said as I packed my things. "W-wait! Let me send you home." He asled softly. "Hmmm...sure, just for today." I said with a smile. He then took his car keys and drove me home.
