Traffic (Request)

I sighed for the millionth time, groaning right afterwards. I was on my way to work, but the traffic on the freeway was unbearable. Four lanes of stopped cars, waiting on some accident or some construction that I had yet to see.

I rolled my window down, sticking my hand out of it and hoping to feel a little freer in this cramped space.

"Crazy, right?" I heard to my left. I looked at the car next to me, a sedan quite like mine, seeing some guy rolling down his window. I smiled, nodding but not wanting anymore interaction with him. He looked my age, but I was too stressed on not being late that I would probably just come off as rude.

"I'm on my way to work," he complained, pretending to slam his fist into the horn of his car. "My boss is gonna kill me," he chuckled, rolling his eyes. I laughed quietly along with him for a second, glancing back ahead of my car.

"I know right," I smiled, quickly stopping. I wasn't trying to make friends.

"What's your name?" I wondered, surprising myself. He looked back over at me.

"I'm Niall. What about you, babe?" he asked, making me blush slightly.

"I'm Caitlyn," I spoke, watching him nod.

"So, I can put that in my contacts?" I stared over at him, seeing him pull out his phone. I hesitated, not quite sure if I should give him my number. He smiled at me, and I just shrugged to myself.

"Of course," I nodded, watching him slide over to the passenger's seat and attempt to hand his phone to me through the window. He was halfway out, and I was trying to not laugh as I reached out and grabbed it, watching him almost face-plant into the road.

I put my number in, handing it back to him as he still leaned with his whole torso out the window.

"Thanks," he chuckled, making me smile. He slid back into the driver's seat, pulling forward a few feet with the cars in front of him.

"I'll call you later," he yelled, slowly losing view of me.

"You'd better," I teased, rolling up my window.

And that was the first time of many that we saw each other.
