A dark-skinned man sits in front of a camera. He wears a white lab coat. This is Carter Knox, 53, tall and slim.
Carter (breathing raggedly) To my family...
He eyes the camera with dread, swallowing hard.
CARTER (CONT'D) To my family...this is my last video. I hope I explained everything. I hope I've prepared you for what's coming...
The black lens of the camera catches his attention. The shiny bulb reflects eerily. It morphs into a black eyeball. His ears RING. The lens continues to distort into an elongated pupil. AN ALIEN EYEBALL. Menacing and haunting.
CARTER (CONT'D) (mumbles/rub eyes) No... (louder) NO! Leave me alone, damn it!
Carter WHACKS the side of his head. He breathes heavily and leans forward in the chair, rubbing his eyes.
CARTER (CONT'D) Please excuse my behavior.
He eyes the camera.
CARTER (CONT'D) Where was I?
Carter ponders.
CARTER (CONT'D) What's coming... (sadly) How can I explain it? How will you forgive me? I made a horrible mistake. I tried my best to fix it. I couldn't.
Carter stares off pensively.
Flashback: A giant alien standing 10 feet tall. Scaly gray skin. Big black eyes. The being looks down upon Carter with intensity. hovering over him like a lanky monster.
He frantically blinks away the flashback.
CARTER (CONT'D) I aided this doomsday...
Flashback: A FLEET OF UFOS FLOATING IN OUTER SPACE. A VAIL OF MYSTERIOUS LIQUID RESEMBLING Claymation. DARK SHADOWS OF MONSTROUS FIGURES STRETCHING ACROSS A FLOOR. HUGE, SHARP TEETH. GROWLING.
Carter HYPERVENTILATES. He covers his eyes. His hands tremble.
CARTER (CONT'D) (emotionally) I didn't mean to...
He reaches for a laptop, unfloads it and types.
CARTER (CONT'D) But what's done is done, there's no going back.
