Finally

"I remember."

As soon as the two words leave his mouth he breaks down. Rivers of salty tears stream down his face. His breathing becomes erratic and he struggles to control his choked sobs. Immediately, you wrap your arms around him and hold him as close as you can. He cries into your shoulder and circles his arms round your waist to hug you tightly.

"Taehyung..." Jimin's worried voice comes from behind, yet you don't even need to see his face to know his expression.

"I remember everything!" Tae wails into the crook of your neck, and as much as this makes you happy, it's all you can do to rub soothing circles on his back to ease his pain.

Suddenly, you feel another pair of arms around you and Jimin rests his head on your shoulder. In the corner of your eye you see a tear slip down his cheek and his hold on the both of you tightens. Quickly, the other members join the hug. Wrapping themselves around you and Tae, the pile soon becomes a mess of emotions and tears. 

Tae continues to mumble into your shoulder, alternating between "I'm sorry" and "I love you". Each time you smile and reassure him, just happy to be surrounded by the people who are most important to you. You've never felt so safe

Only now does it feel like everything is finally over. All the things you've experienced. Every piece of pain and suffering that you and the others have faced seems to be fading into the past. Now you're free. Unshackled, unbound, and unafraid. You're family's reign is over and at last you've found yourself a real home and a real family. You can live however you want. You can do whatever you want. Finally.

Another round of laughs erupts from the living room and echoes throughout the house, eventually reaching you in the kitchen. A smile can't help but plaster itself onto your face as you listen to the boys talking and joking. You lean back onto the counter and let out a relaxed sigh, closing your eyes in content.

"What are you doing?"

The monotonous voice pulls you out of your thoughts. You open your eyes and see Yoongi in the doorway, arms crossed and bearing an amused expression.

"Thinking." 

He scoffs. "You aren't gonna join us?" He asks.

You smile. "I'm happy to just listen."

Yoongi rolls his eyes and walks past you towards the fridge, muttering a "weirdo" under his breath. He grabs a beer and closes the door, his face immediately coming into view in your peripheral vision. "Are you okay?"

His unusually sincere question makes you turn your head to face him.

"I am now, better than I've ever been."

He moves next to you and leans against the counter, sipping from the can in his hand.

"It's a hell of a relief that's for sure." He says and you hum in agreement. "None of us are mad at you by the way."

You frown. "For what?"

"About Tae only remembering you through his amnesia."

"Oh."

"Kookie didn't mean it, he's just very close with Tae."

You nod. "I know.

Yoongi tuts and takes another sip. "Sorry, probably a bit late to be telling you this... I can see why Tae only remembered you though."

"What do you mean?" You ask.

"Well he loves you a lot." Yoongi shrugs though you still blush. "It's plain to see whenever he's with you. Actually, it's also plain to see when he's not even with you, he's such a puppy."

You giggle and silently agree. If Taehyung was an animal, he'd definitely be a little puppy. Unconditionally loving, adorable, clumsy, energetic, a complete mess overall but you'd still love him.

"Very true." You say and smile at him, and for once, he smiles back.

"Y/N? Yoongi hyung?" Your head snaps to the doorway when you hear Tae's voice.

He looks at you both, confused and slightly surprised. Yoongi instantly laughs at his reaction before pushing himself up off the counter. He takes a long drink of his beer and ruffles your hair simultaneously. Walking out of the kitchen he pats Tae on the shoulder, leaving you two alone. Tae stands in confusion for a moment until he snaps out of it and walks towards you.

You smile cheesily up at him and he chuckles at you. "Cute." He says simply, brushing a stray hair behind your ear. 

"I'm not cute."

"Well you're not exactly mean, tough and scary." He laughs and you can't help but grin.

You wrap your arms around his torso and rest your head against his chest. "Whatever." You mutter into his hoodie.

You feel him hug you back and you close your eyes, heavy from the long and tiring day. You yawn and snuggle further against him.

"Sleepy?" He asks and you nod, suddenly too exhausted to use words. He chuckles and pulls aways from you, only to pick you up like a child.

You'd object but his shoulder is far too comfortable to not lay your head on. You feel him start to walk, out of the kitchen, through the hallway, up the stairs, into his room. 

Gently, you're placed on his bed and the covers are lovingly draped over you. You force yourself to open your eyes and look at him before you fall asleep. As his face comes into vision you smile sleepily at the man hovering over you.

"Pretty." You say and he grins at you. God you love that smile.

"Get some sleep Y/N." He says, his deep voice so much deeper in your sleepy haze.

"I love you Tae." The words come slurred but true from your mouth and he places a kiss to your head before replying.

"I love you too Y/N." Are the last words you hear just as sleep fills your mind and draws you in.
