Chapter 19

I looked out the window and saw Lily waiting for me in her car, texting. I grabbed my sandals and went out to her car.

"What do you think this is about?" She wondered.

"No clue." I replied, shrugging my shoulders.

Austin sent out a text to everyone saying he wanted to meet up, so he could tell us something. I know it had to do with the announcement he tried to bring up at lunch. Atcher told me he was just gonna meet me at the diner.

"What if he got Tracy pregnant?" Lily exclaimed.

I laughed. "I can't imagine little Tracy look-a-likes running around, clawing at peoples faces."

"I hate her so much" Lily said.

I couldn't help but ask about when I saw Tracy and her together. "So, um why were you really close at lunch that one time?" I timidly asked.

"There was no one else to talk to. I mean me and you weren't actually talking and you just forgot about me" She replied.

"Oh, well you know I'm sorry" I reminded her.

"Of course" She smiled.

We walked in and noticed everyone there except Atcher and Tracy. I couldn't help but think that they were together.

Austin got up and gave us hugs. I wrapped my arms around him, remembering how much I loved his hugs. I took in his scent of apples and smiled against his chest.

Man, I've missed this boy.

We pulled apart, looking at each other. Austin awkwardly cleared his throat and sat down. A little while later Atcher and Tracy walked in. Together.

She flashed a smirk at me and plopped down next to Austin.

"Sorry we're late." Atcher said, kissing my cheek. I could feel my face tense up, as I tried to tell myself nothing was going on between them. Why was he with her?

I furrowed my eyebrows and watched him sit down. I raised my eyebrows when he saw me, hoping he'd explain why he was with Tracy. But no. Instead, he looked away.

Anger was starting to build in me.

We all finally settled down and ordered.

"Please don't tell me you got her pregnant" Lily said, pointing at Tracy.

Austin choked on his water and stared at Lily. "What?! No!" He defended.

"Okay, okay" Lily surrendered.

"Can you please make your announcement so I don't have to waste my time here" Atcher said, looking at Austin.

I snapped my head to him and sent him a grimacing glare. He didn't meet me eyes. He was really starting to get me mad.

Austin scoffed. "Anyways. I called you guys here to tell you that I'm going to France. My grandparents live there. I'm gonna finish off the school year there and spend the summer there to." He said.

My stomach clenched. Austin's leaving?

He can't.

"When do you leave?" Chris asked. He looked like he was on the verge of crying.

"Sunday. After formal" Austin responded. Silence took over the table. I looked over at Tracy, she was sitting there playing with her nails. She didn't show a glimpse of emotion.

Austin's eyes caught mine and sadness took over my face. He looked away.

I looked at Atcher, he was playing some game on his phone. He didn't have any sign of sadness, he hadn't looked up once from the screen of his phone after Austin told us.
