"Ever has it been that love knows not its own depth until the hour of separation." - Kahlil Gibran

"Are you ready?" Cole asked me as I stared at my reflection. I was dressed in all black, just like everyone else.

Turning around I around the living room.

"I'm not ready...but I have to be." I said walking to grab the flowers that I had bought for Caroline. "What about my family?" I continued.

"Your family left a few minutes ago. And, Emily is waiting in the car, its just us left."

I guess I was the last one to leave. Grabbing my phone from the marble I walked towards the door. "We can go now." I said to Cole.

Closing the door to my apartment Cole and I walked towards the elevator. As he pressed the button I put one hand inside my pocket, the other one holding the flowers.

"It will get better with time, I promise." Cole said as he pat my back and I gave him a small smile.

Once we heard the doors open we went inside. Pressing the button for the 1st floor I looked down at the flowers. They were lilies, Caroline's favorite flowers.

The elevator ride was silent until eventually we landed on the first floor.

Walking out of the elevator we exited the building and went straight to the parking lot.

I could see Emily talking on the phone with someone. But, something was not right. She seemed furious with whoever was phone. From a distance I could hear her voice and she did not sound happy. As she paced around I could see the frown that was starting to form on her face, as we got closer to the car, Emily turned around.

As soon as she saw us, the frown disappeared and her tone lowered. "Listen, we will talk about it later. I have to leave now, bye." She said before ending the call.

Facing us she put a smile on her face.

"Good, you're here now. Let's go." Emily said before opening the door to the back seat.

Grabbing my keys from my pocket I tossed them to Cole. "Here, you drive. I don't feel like driving." I said and grabbed them with ease.

I walked to other side of the car and sat in the back next to Emily.

Putting our seatbelts on Cole started the car and drove to the cemetery. The ride was quiet but it was a comfortable silence. However, during the ride I could see Emily checking her phone. Eventually we arrived and Cole parked the car. I could see my parents waiting outside as well as other people I knew.

The three of us walked out of the car and I looked around.

"Here, take it." Emily said handing me an umbrella and I grabbed it with the hand that was already holding the flowers. "It's going to rain later." She finished as she turned around to walk away. But, before she could walk forward a grabbed her forearm softly and she turned around.

"What's wrong?" She asked as I let go of her forearm.

"First, thank you for the umbrella." I said holding it up. "But, area you okay?"

"What do you mean?"

"I heard you talking on the phone. I didn't hear the conversation except for the last part but you seem agitated. I just wanted to make sure you are okay." I explained.
