...

After meeting with his best friend, Noah had arrived to his apartment. Dropping his keys on the marble counter he headed to his room. As soon as his head hit the pillows he let out a sigh.

He found himself missing her. He missed Caroline badly. Just thinking of their happy moments caused him an agonizing pain, but he couldn't stop thinking of those happy moments that would soon fade into memories. He missed her. He longed for her. He felt lonely. And this was just the beginning.

He remembered the day they had first met. He was a sophomore in college and Caroline was a senior about to graduate. She was two years older than him so at that time he was 19 and she was 21. He never imagined that Caroline would be interested in a guy like him. Noah was a nice guy, even though he sometimes acted like a player. But, when he found a girl that he liked, he made sure to make it clear that he was interested in the girl and treated her right. Caroline seemed like the type of girl that would date a guy of her age, one who was more mature. So, when Caroline said that she liked him he was surprised. Noah knew that she was attractive and he was lucky to be her friend, until he became someone important in her life.

He was lucky to have met her.

It was at that moment that he lamented not rushing the wedding. Both had chosen to wait until she was better. But now he regretted it.

Would it had made a difference? Noah thought.

However, that did not matter anymore as it was too late for regrets. Either way he couldn't help but wonder, if this is what fate had for him. A time filled of sorrow.

He was mourning, therefore he was suppose to feel like this. But, he had to wait for time to heal the wound the Caroline's left him. Fate had other plans for him, and this was just the beginning. For now he would feel pain, until one day the pain would stop. And Noah would be happy once again.

All in due time Noah. Just let time do the work and heal your wounds.

Noah ran a hand through his hair in frustration.

He couldn't stop thinking about her. And every time he did, it hurt him. He just wanted to alleviate the pain. However, deep inside he knew he couldn't complain about his pain because Caroline had also been in pain and she had endured it for a while. Her pain lasted until the end, but his would most likely diminish at some point. It didn't help that there were things that belonged to her in his apartment. Caroline had not lived wit Noah but she sometimes stayed over when she was too lazy to go back to her parent's house. At some point he needed to pack some of her belongings and give them to her parents. But it was too soon to do that. Noah knew he had to let her go but he wasn't ready to do so.

Maybe Cole was right, I just need to let time do the work. He thought.

Getting up he headed to the kitchen. The only thing that he had eaten was the pastry from the café. And he needed to eat something more filling. He wasn't actually hungry but he needed to distract himself from thinking about her.

He now regretted completing all of his work from college because he needed something to distract him fro a while.

Pulling up his sleeves he grabbed the ingredients and began to work.

I was still working on my last shift for the day. It had only been a few hours since the incident with the guy. I had forgotten about him, but seeing him today made me feel remorse for leaving the hospital room without thanking him. In his eyes I probably looked like a brat and I wanted to apologize to him but I felt embarrassed to do so in front of his friend. It did not matter; Amy did say he was a regular here so if I ever saw him again I would apologize for being so rude to him that day at the hospital.
