We flew down, coming to almost landing on the bobbing sea vessel. A crack of lightning struck the mast, bringing it down. Aang used some skilful waterbending to snap the wood in half, saving Sokka and the old man from death by crushing. Sokka tied a rope around himself and the old fisherman while Appa flew down as close as he dared. Katara and I stared down, clutching the saddle. I had my arm around her waist, keeping her steady. At the same time, Aang grabbed the rope, jumped back onto Appa's head, and then pulled the two foolhardy sailors up onto Appa. Just then, a massive wave picked up the ship and attempted to bludgeon us with it. Instead, though, we got caught in the wave. I grabbed the rope and pulled the other two closer, holding Katara tightly to myself as we were all dragged under by the huge wave. But the wind got knocked out of me, and I found myself slipping away from them. I tried to hold tighter, but my arms wouldn't respond. The rope slipped from my grasp, and Katara was floating away...
