>>You guys are gonna hate me :)<<
*three months later*
Yuuki had no idea how it happened. She had no idea when it happened. All she knew was that she was in undeniable pain, screaming out and clutching her injured side.
It had been a normal day. Wake up, pester Dabi a bit, clean the house for a while, do laundry, and then she realized she needed to go grocery shopping. Unfortunately, on her way to the supermarket, she found herself tangled up in trouble.
Big trouble.
She doesn't even remember how it happened. All she knows is one minute she's walking, and the next she's on the ground bleeding from her side and an unimaginable pain flooding throughout all of her limbs with some sick person leaning over her spewing nonsense about Dabi.
Yuuki laid on the hospital bed, staring holes into the heart monitor that beeped constantly. She still couldn't move her body due to the pain and that frustrated her to no ends. Yuuki needed to get home. Yuuki hated hospitals. Everything about them rubbed Yuuki in all the wrong ways.
The door opening made her stiffly turn her head in the direction. Almost instantly she spotted Dabi, and her lips tugged in a small smile as he walked over. She was confused as to how he had been walking around without the nurses losing their shit and security being called.
"Hospital for villains," Dabi stated, seeing the confusion embedded within her gaze.
Yuuki blinked at him for a moment before speaking, "Oh," She whispered.
For the first time in a long time, an awkward silence grew over them. Dabi was tense as he walked around the bed and sat down in the chair next to her. There was a stressed look in his blue eyes as he looked at her form.
"I'm sorry," He whispered after a moment.
Those two words made a feeling of surprise shoot through her body. He had never actually apologized to her for anything, so why was he apologizing now. Yuuki watched Dabi place his forehead against the side of the bed, and out of habit Yuuki rose her arm and placed her hand on top of his spikey hair.
"I knew this was a bad idea," He whispered, "Getting involved with you..getting involved with goddamn villains..everything," He muttered.
Yuuki tensed up at his words, her brows furrowing in confusion as he lifted his head. Her hand fell from his hair and he immediately grabbed it, rubbing his thumb over her knuckles slowly. He barely showed any emotion as of now. Not even a frown.
Yuuki found herself growing more worried with every second that passed. The beeping from the heart monitor started to pick up, making Dabi give a brief glance towards the machine.
"I need you to calm down, Yuuki," His muffled words met her ears, "Please,"
Yuuki took in a deep breath, forcing her body to relax before she spoke, "Is..." Her voice cracked, and she cleared her throat and licked her lips, "If this i-is your way of, uhm, dumping me j-just do it," She whispered, looking towards the ceiling.
The silence from Dabi gave Yuuki her answer, and he pulled his hand from hers. Dabi stood to his feet and leaned over her body, pressing a soft kiss onto her forehead.
"I'm sorry, Yuuki," He whispered quietly, "I can't have you getting hurt because of me," He mumbled against her skin.
Yuuki closed her eyes as he pulled away from her. Dabi's fingers brushed against her hair, smoothing it down as he looked at her, then his touch left all together.
"D-Dabi," Yuuki called, her eyes remaining close, "It was good while it lasted," She whispered quietly.
A few seconds later, she heard a quiet sigh followed by the sound of the door closing soon afterwards. Once Yuuki knew he was gone, she rolled onto her side, ignoring the searing back in her side and opened her eyes. A stray tear escaped her waterline and fell onto the bedsheets below her.
So much for love.
The following days were long and pretty lonely for Yuuki, she spent most of her time tapping a pattern into her bed or ignoring the nurses. Whichever came first really.
When she was released, Yuuki found herself more than reluctant to go home. Dabi was only a door away from her place, and that meant she'd still see him around. That also meant reliving everything that happened in the hospital.
In the end, Yuuki did go home. She practically sprinted up the staircase in order to get inside her apartment before she could see him.
A small sigh left Yuuki's lips as she tossed the keys onto the counter, frowning as the slid across the surface and off the other end, clattering into the sink. Rolling her eyes, Yuuki trudged into her bedroom. She froze seeing the jacket that Dabi had given her so many months ago was neatly folded and laying in the center of the bed, the key she had given him resting on top of it.
Her jaw clenched as she forced the tears back. Yuuki moved forward, swipping up the key and immediately retreating into the kitchen. Yuuki snatched the keys up from out of the sink and connected the small metallic object into the chain. She dropped her keys into the small bowl that held everything she needed.
After a moment of silence, Yuuki walked back into her bedroom. She grabbed the jacket, her green gaze going over it once. Her breath caught in her throat as she looked down at the tattered, black fabric in her hands. For the first time since Dabi left, a pitiful sob left her lips and tears began streaming down her cheeks.
She thought that she had changed him for the better, but in the end she was wrong. He was still that Sociopathic man she had fallen head over heels for. Yuuki knew it was rare for a sociopath to even feel love or remorse. She thought Dabi was apart of that rare bit, but in the end she thought wrong.
