Chapter One
Once upon a time something happened to me. It was the sweetest thing that could ever be, a fantasy, a dream come true... It was the day I met you.
Sephy
'This is amazing!' I shouted into Sammie's ear.
'What?' she screamed into mine.
'I said, this is amazing!'
'Oh!' Sammie said nodding enthusiastically, 'yeah, it is!'
I closed my eyes, raised my hands in the air and swayed, allowing the music to pump through my veins and my heart. I was lucky we'd gotten here early enough to manage to snag places close to the stage.
I was at a gig with my five best friends in the whole world, Sammie, Tabby, Adam, Mel and Aimee and at the time we were listening to a band called Epic Fail who apparently attended our school. They were amazing, and the song they were singing just then, My Little Enigma, was shooting through me. It was unbelievable how good they were, and once again I wished I could be up on that stage someday...
Feeling a tap on my shoulder I turned around and grinned.
'Hey Sephy! You look like you're enjoying yourself!' Adam grinned. His twin sister Tabby was behind him, also swaying her hips to the beat.
Tabby and Adam just happened to be the two most gorgeous people on the planet. They were both incredibly tall, had wavy brown hair -Tabby's reaching just below her shoulder blades, Adam's a soft, short, curly bed - had emerald green eyes and impossibly straight teeth.
At that point in time Adam was wearing a simple red t-shirt with headphones on the front and a pair of distressed jeans whilst Tabby was wearing a blue shift dress. It was almost embarrassing to stand next to them. You just felt like an ugly duckling, or a turnip, though Sammie was pretty gorgeous too, the lucky carrot head.
Both Tabby and Adam were kind and fun to be around, but where Tabby also tended to be incredibly daring with an unexpected temper, Adam was more of a sensitive person and was pretty emotional. He was, admittedly, gay, and oh-so-totally cute with it! Despite their differences they were incredibly close to each other and you could barely separate them at the best of times.
'I am!' I replied, grabbing Sammie's hand and doing a little twirl. 'Have you seen Mel and Aimee? They disappeared seconds after you two did!'
'Toilet,' he yelled in my ear.
I nodded and turned back to face the stage just as Epic Fail finished My Little Enigma. Disappointment settled in my stomach. For a moment I had almost believed the night was never going to end, but Epic Fail were the last act and we'd all be on our way soon enough...
'That's it for today, thanks to everyone for listening and being such a great audience,' the lead singer said into the microphone sounding slightly out of breath.
I looked up at him in awe. He was pretty tall and skinny. His hair was long for a guy and was in the state of boy-with-no-brush/complete-and-utter-cuteness-skater-boy type thing and his guitar, a beautiful black one with a single white star by the neck, was slung casually around his shoulders. Just as he turned around heading towards some of the other guys and high-fiving one of them, I realised who he was.
'Oh my God!' I said, turning to Sammie, Tabby and Adam, 'I know who the lead singer is!'
'Who?' Tabby wanted to know.
'Nathan King, right? The heartbreaker guy, he sits right next to me in registration whenever Miss MacLeod feels like enforcing the register order rule, thing.'
