After a while, he broke the silence between you.

"Do you know what's a mako irradiation?"

"N-No?" You had heard some unclear rumours, but nothing more. Maybe you had heard something like that at one of the trainings...

"You will get to know what it is, but before that you must steel your body much more. As you can see, after it, you are exhausted and weakened for a couple of hours."

"Then I shall take my leave. Certainly, you want to rest", you sighted, pushed the chair back to its whereabouts and walked to the door.

"Wait."

"Do you need something?", you asked and stopped your walking.

Only silence followed your question. You could swear that his gaze pierced your back. With an uncomfortable feeling in your guts, you turned around to face him. Sephiroth sat silently on his bed, his facial expression a mask as always.

"What?"

He baffled you again and again. Over the last twenty four hours... And that was really, really odd.

"Never mind." He had put the matter of. Somehow it made you angry again but you didn't know why.

"Alright.", you shrugged your shoulders and exited Sephiroth's room.

After you had entered your own room, you leaned against the cool metal door and closed your eyes to get your feelings together again. It felt as if something had changed between your mentor and you, without your knowledge. But why?

There wasn't a hint of something like a change between you two. Every day was normal, training, mission reports training and preparations. And also the conversations and discussions where normal as always. When had it changed?

Next day

The last night was a horror. Bad dreams and turmoil thoughts made your sleep maddening. With dark circles under your eyes, you entered the cafeteria and fetched your breakfast. Other colleges sat next to you and they were babbling about random boring stuff. You didn't even bother yourself to listen to them.

But then a question of a 3rd-class pulled you out of your thoughts.

"Have you heard, that all 1st-class had to gather for a mission in the Wastelands? Something of a big deal I heard."

Straightaway, you asked him, if he knew if Sephiroth was also summoned for that mission. The answer was yes.

Without knowing what you should do without your mentor around, you called Lazard.

"Good morning Sir. This is Diamond, I'm asking for some information. Is my mentor, Sephiroth out on a mission?"

"Yeah, he is. If you have time, I want you to gather with some other 2nd-class' at the garage. There is work for you."

"Thank you Sir, I'm on my way." You hung up and walked downstairs to the garage of the HQ.

At the garage, two other SOLDIER waited and introduced you to the mission for today. The three of you should drive to Fort Condor to defeat some nasty monsters. And then you should ask around if there were other monster attacks around the area. You could choose your vehicle to drive by yourself, so you decided to take an off-road motorbike. It was heavy, with a Shinra Logo on it, but with your new strength and trained body it wouldn't be a problem.

You could stay in contact with the other per radio, so you had decided to split up for the journey. It would be great to enjoy some free time and peace on your way to the meeting point. After you had left the Headquarter and then the city, Midgar, a chilly and fresh morning awaited you. With a smile on your lips, you stepped into the gas and drove fast over the dusty tundra of the Wastelands. You felt free and unbound.

During the pauses of your ride to Fort Condor, some of your unclear and fogged memories braked through. But all memories were about hunts. No memories of your previous life or your family... But you had to focus on driving and the mission which laid ahead of you.

On the early evening, you arrived at the Fort. The other two were still on their way. So you searched for the little inn at the bottom of the high Fort and ate something. After the others had arrived, you decided together, to gather after a handful of sleep tomorrow morning for the mission.

With a side-step, you avoided the big paw of the oversized hound-like monster, you could feel the air from its attack. But with no fear you attacked it right away, as you could make your move on it. A creepy growling of anger echoed between the rocks and hills, as your attack sliced the side of the torso open. And the next attack finished the monster, its last breath token.

"Good work you all!", the leader of this mission shouted over the battlefield.

Every monster was defeated and so your mission were finished for today. After the gathering with the other SOLDIER's you learned about a nest of monsters on your way back to Midgar, you all had to finish them off at the way back.

But it was enough for today, so you all went for a shower, a dinner and a handful of sleep.

Sorry for this short chapter XD

I havn't posted in a while... sorry >.<

It's the cause of some privat stuff and changes and also the new shorter fanfics I'm working on right now. It took me too much of my limited spare time so I have started shorter fanfics.

But don't worry, I will never ever abandon this fanfic! (It will take me only some time to write the longer chapters)

So please stay close by!

Greetings, yours Loki <3
