"Welcome one of your fellow classmate, Courtney Hews". Principal Geno said. Welcoming me to the stage. Applause began and people chanting me on.
"That's my bestfriend!" Warren yelled. I smiled and went to the stand which held the microphone.
I was feeling a little down since Kelly wasn't here. It's like she just gave up on school.
"Hey guys". I said into the microphone. Everyone said "hey" and "hi" back.
"I'm Courtney, a sophomore here. I have classes with some of you. As some of you guys know my little sister, Allyssa Jones, was recently killed, by a gun". I cleared my breath. "Um..it was an attempted robbery, she opened the door and fire was let off at her immediately". I sighed and scratched my wrist, something I did when I was nervous.
"Well. Let's start off by saying this, why is it that..time after time we lose our loved ones because of ones decision. I wanna know, do people wake up and set in their agenda to kill an innocent person. Even if you think someone deserves to be killed, they don't! Hurting someone to the point they lose their life, and causing depression and sorrow in someone else's wont benefit you. Your not going to get brownie points or cool points for killing someone's child, brother, sister, cousin, niece, nephew, allat! And if you do all thats lame. My sister was taken away from us because some low life's wanted to try and rob our home. They was reckless with a gun and now they took the life of a 4 year old little girl who ain't do shit to them"
"Let's not forget, about the 15 year old boy junior, who was just stabbed to death. And the 9 year old girl saniyah getting shot because some dummies wanted to let off guns in a open area! When are we going to realize that this is a world that doesn't revolve around you and your satisfaction. You shouldn't even be satisfied with taking peoples life. At the end of the day, what if that was your sister, brother, friend, cousin?" I wiped a tear that began strolling down my face. "When are we going to learn?"

What Courtney was saying really made me think. I lowkey felt that speech was for me in some way.
"Aye warren, let me speak with you real fast". I said motioning for him to follow me.
"Wassuo bro?" He asked folding his arms over his chest.
"You listen to that little speech Courtney did?" I asked. He nodded. "Yeah, of course I did. It was good wasn't it? She really put her all in that". He said smiling.
"Yeah, it was nice. But did you get the message of it?" I asked again.
He looked confused. "What you mean".
"Man". I said running my hand down my face and sighing. "You know what we do..she was basically saying that shit ain't right. And I believe her".
He sucked his teeth. "Man what we do is way different from what she talking about. What we do is for business. What those people out there doing is killing innocent ass folks"
I shook my head. "You don't get it dummy. You letting Dad get in yo head thinking this shit cute. Don't you want a career? One day that shit gone get old and you gone be out of luck because you wanted to waste yo time playing with people life"
He sucked his teeth and waved his hand. "Man I ain't tryna here all that because at the end of the day you doing this shit too. And you been doing it longer than me so it must not be that bad".
I was about to go off on him until Courtney walked up behind him. She put her hands on his shoulders and squeezed them. "How'd I do bestie?"
He turned around with a big goofy ass smile. "You did good best, I'm proud of you".
They hugged and whatever. I rolled my eyes at they wannabeinarelationshipbutactingliketheydomtasses . "Aye court, you did yo thang up there. Goodshit".
She smiled. I could tell by the look in her eyes she was hurting but covering her pain with happiness. "Thank you Woowoo, that means a lot coming from you".
"No doubt, I'll catch up with y'all later though". I said grabbing my keys out of my pocket since it was about time to go.
As I began walking out of school I noticed Jenny walking. She was all up in her phone smiling, which pissed me off.
"Ayo?" I said snatching her phone from her hand. She looked up shocked, once she seen it was me she calmed down. "Woowoo don't do that you scared me". She said reaching for her phone.
I put the phone high in the air. "What you reaching for it for? What you doing on it?" I asked.
"Don't act jealous" she said smiling. I shook my head. "Nah boo. You be acting jealous and you know what they say, once yo partner start acting out it mean doing what they accusing you of doing".
Her mouth dropped." Now stop because you know I ain't doing nothing that'll hurt our relationship, I was just smiling at that baby video. Look". She said pointing to the phone.
I looked at the video and it was a baby on it's Dad chest falling asleep, I don't see how it was funny but I guess so. "Oh ight". I handed her phone back. "What you finna do?"
"Come with you". She said grabbing my arm. "Ight". I said beginning to walk.
"So about that baby". She started.
"No jenny, no". I said shaking my head.
I ain't tryna have no kids no time soon.

"You ready?" Harry asked as we pulled into the parking lot.
I looked at him and rolled my eyes. "You not coming in with me?"
"No dude I got other shit to do. I'll be back to pick you up though aight?" He said grabbing my hand. I snatched away from him. "You ain't shit". I got out of the car and slammed the door.
I walked into the women's center, as soon as I went inside I felt guilt. I couldn't believe I was about to do this. But who was I to bring a child into this world unstable.
I went up to the front desk and gave the lady my name, since I already gave a session booked.
When I was done giving my info I turned around and almost bumped into something. "Oh my bad". I said. I was about to walk away when I seen who it was.

I didn't say nothing to her, only because I didn't feel like this was the place to be happy.
I know I wasn't.
