MYRROR

<>Is there a specific story you would like to talk about?

I guess I'd like to talk about The Undertaker's Apprentice.

<>What is the genre and how does it stand out from other stories of the same genre?

It's a fantasy/mystery-thriller, and I guess it stands out because I've rarely seen any other stories like it anywhere, whether in bookstores or here on Wattpad. The story is set in a Victorian-esque, Gothic landscape and is pretty dark and serious, not to mention that I've tried quite hard to make sure that it doesn't necessarily follow the traditional clichés.

<>How can your readers relate to the characters of your story?

My protagonist, Lysbeth, has her head firmly on her shoulders. Despite the misfortunes that have occurred to her, she's able to take them in stride and hold her head up high with extreme resourcefulness. I'd like to think that we have to try to be strong no matter what happens.

My deuteragonist, Skinner, is a complete enigma. He's the representation of how we hide behind a different facade in order to protect our secrets and, ultimately, those we love.

<>Why should people read your story?

The Undertaker's Apprentice is a story which rarely conforms to the traditions of others in the same genre. It has its numerous twists and turns and dark secrets that will appeal to fantasy readers who enjoy a good old mystery/thriller as well.

<>How did you get inspired to write it?

It's based on a personal dream of mine. As a child I was actually quite interested in becoming an undertaker/mortician; that's how The Undertaker's Apprentice came about.

<>Is there a certain message throughout your story that you want people to grasp when they read?

I hope my readers will understand the importance of staying true to yourself no matter what happens. It's about acceptance: accepting yourself for who you are, accepting the ones that you care about, and also standing up for what's right.

<>What have you learned from writing your book?

Besides how to (theoretically) embalm a dead body? A lot. I've learnt how to really 'write' a story and really immerse myself in it, feeling everything from the characters to the world I've built. I've also learnt that there's nothing else more rewarding than writing for yourself.

<>Do you have any advice for young, undiscovered authors out there on Wattpad?

Write what you want to read. Don't just write what you know about - step out of your comfort zone and explore. Write about the stuff you want to know more of. Research, learn, and most importantly: enjoy yourself.

<>Did you/do you have any challenges in writing your story?

Yes, writer's block being one of them along with depression and mild procrastination.

<>Is there anything you want to say to your readers?

Thank you for choosing to read The Undertaker's Apprentice and any of my other works. Writing is truly something special to me and I hope you can see that shine through when you read my stories. Cheers!
