Rejection and Rogues - Chapter 2: Take Me Away

Enjoy!

A stream of light made its way through the cover of my eye lids. I groaned, but froze as my groan ended up sounding like a growl. After opening my eyes, I cautiously looked around. I was in the woods, alone. Away from civilisation. One by one, the events from yesterday came flying back into my mind. If it wasn't for the fact that I was wolf, I would probably be in a sobbing heap right now.

The leaves rustled from above me quietly and the trees swayed gently. Being in wolf form made me calm and feel like everything was alright, even though it wasn't. Stretching, I stood up. I ambled towards the small pond to my right. Looking down, I could see little fish and insects swimming about. It seems that my wolf senses have enhanced.

My fur was as dark as night, much like my human hair colour. The reflection of my gold eyes shone in the water, leaving me breathless. It still amazed me how gold werewolve's eyes got when in wolf form. My natural eye colour was green, so the gold surprised me a bit. A howl in the distance caught my attention. It sent chills down my spine, making me shake slightly. Feeling scared, I dashed through the woods and to the pack house. Atleast there, I knew who my enemies were.

Upon arrival, I shifted. The cold air hitting my bare skin left me shivering. I wrapped my arms around myself and clenched my teeth. Not wanting anyone to see me naked, I climbed up the tree next to my window and climbed in. My room was empty, as usual. Of course, no one would worry about me while I was out for the night. Who would miss the omega?

I walked to my dresser and took out a red and blue plaid shirt, a pair of loose black jeans and some socks. Next, I went into the bathroom and proceeded to take a shower. Once I felt fresh and clean, I pulled the clothes on. That's better, I thought.

Suddenly, my door was slammed open, revealing a very angry Karmen. Fear bubbled up inside me as I watched her breathing heavily with a murderous glint in her eyes.

"W-what is it, K-karmen?" I stuttered, tugging at my sleeves.

Instead of answering, she stalked towards me and pushed me to the floor. Before I could get up, she pulled me to my feet by my hair. Wincing, I allowed her to pull me out of my room and down the stairs.

"Look at what I found," She announced loudly, pulling harder on my hair. Whimpering, I looked around the dining hall. Everyone was staring at us with different emotions in their eyes. Some were angry and disgusted, whilst others were ashamed and filled with pity.

I looked down, afraid I'd break down in front of them.

"Where have you been?" Boomed my dad, approaching us. His hair scruffy and brown eyes wide.

"I was-"

Before I could complete my answer, Karmen beat me to it.

"She was out trying to figure out a way to get rid of me and be with Blake." She lied, hiding her smirk.

Dad's eyes hardened and filled with disgust.

"Violet, why?" He asked, angrily.

"N-no, she's lying!" I said, frantically, pleading with my eyes. Obviously he didn't believe me because with a flick of his wrist, I was on the ground holding my cheek.

"Daddy," I sobbed, "Why don't you believe me? I'm your daughter!"

His face softened at my use of the word 'daddy', but it hardened just as quick.

He looked at me, his face showing disappointment.

"Take her away, Karmen. I can't stand to look at her right now." He mumbled, sitting back down and wrapping his arms around Chantel. I could see that she was trying to prevent herself from smiling.

The only sounds in the room were my broken sobs and cries. With one last glance at the man I considered to be my father, I was dragged out of the room.

"P-please. Stop," I begged, clutching my bruised sides. Karmen had been beating me for the past hour, non stop.

"Pathetic!" She shouted, punching me in the gut. Gasping for breath, I bent over, only to be hit yet again. Breathing heavily, I spat blood out onto the forest floor.

"No wonder Blake doesn't want you! You're a pathetic excuse of a werewolf. I wouldn't be surprised if we celebrated after you died!"

My shock at her words dissolved after being kicked several times.

With each painful word Karmen said came an agonizing blow.

I lay their for hours, tolerating her torture.

Suddenly, a loud growl sounded through the woods. It was unfamiliar and made both Karmen and I freeze. Turning my head, I saw a large brown wolf baring its teeth at me and Karmen. It looked terrifying; with saliva dripping from its snapping jaws and gold eyes glaring. Karmen backed up until she hit a tree. I, on the other hand, was too busy trying to stay conscious. The brown wolf gave me a fleeting look before turning its attention back to Karmen. She stood stock still, eyes filled with pure terror. The brown wolf released another menacing snarl and crouched. It leapt on to Karmen, pinning her to the ground. She let out a surprised shriek as she hit the ground. By now, my head was spinning. You would be too if you were laying in a small pool of your own blood. Slowly, my eyes drifted shut. The last thing I registered was a gunshot.
