Chapter 2

Where the hell is he? He was suppose to be here a whole hour ago. I tapped my foot on the ground furiously. He was so going to get a whole lecture about being on time during fights.

I looked around the basement. Maybe he's already here, but too shy to introduce himself? Or...he's scared because he was going to fight against me! I snorted, causing a few weirded looks from people around me.

My eyes landed on a man talking quietly into his phone. I've never seen him before, so maybe he's the one. Just as I was about to approach him, his eyes snapped up to mine. I stopped dead in my tracks. His eyes filled with what looked like suspicion, accusation and finality. His eyes left mine and he then proceeded to leave the basement.

Okay...? So he's not the one. But why have I not seen him before and why hadn't he fought? I was about to relay this to Mike when I heard heavy, angry footsteps coming down the stairs to the basement. The mysterious man long forgotten, I tried to see who it was.

''Woah...'' was all that came out of my mouth as I took his appearance in.

He looked to be around his early twenties. He had dark brown, almost black hair that looked like he had ran his hand through a few times, making messy hair look good. He seemed to be 6'1. And his complexion...well, I couldn't really tell, because right now his face was red which was obviously from rage.

He stomped his way through the crowd, though I bet he didn't know where he was going. I chuckled a bit. His eyes snapped to mine, and I flinched at the amount of anger in his eyes. I wondered why he was so angry.

''Do you have a problem, bitch?'' he hissed through clenched teeth. My eyebrows shot up.

''Woah, chill out, dude. Are you a woman in disguise having your time of the month?'' I replied, chuckling at my own joke. I tried not to get too distracted by his good looks.

However, he obviously did not find my joke funny. His eyes, which had darkened from their blue state, making it a midnight blue, lit up with rage and annoyance. ''You're a fighter here, smart ass? You, me. Settle this in a fight then,'' he hissed, not caring about my gender.

''Oh! So you're that newbie!'' I exclaimed in excitement, happy that I was going to fight again. ''No worries, bro, you're my assigned opponent. I've been waiting for you like, forever. Did you know how-''

''Shut up! Oh god, just shut the hell up!'' he cut me off, his face redder by the minute. I was surprised no smoke was coming out from his ears.''And don't you freaking 'bro' me and act like we're friends! 'Coz I'm neither of those, got it?''

As I was about to give a witty comeback, Mike beat me to it. ''Hey, hey. Now, let's settle this fight in the fighting ring. Don't wanna ruin the precious floor now, do we?'' His eyes danced in amusement.

He then proceeded to steer me around, giving me a slight push towards the fighting ring, before guiding the probably-woman-in-disguised-having-PMS.

"You got a name, bro?" I asked, provoking him.

"None of your business, bitch."

Then the fight started.

10 minutes through the fight and he was still standing. I was shocked to know how experienced and skilled he was.

Both of us were equally bruised, but none of us were going to back down. Not in a million years.

I threw a punch towards his jaw, but he managed to catch my wrist before I could even do so. I smirked and used my free hand to land a punch to his left cheek and sending my knee towards his stomach. He released his grip on my wrist, clutching his stomach and doubling over. As my knee throbbed from kneeing his stomach, I had allowed my mind to go astray and wondered if he had an eight pack, or just a six pack.

Thud!

I bit my lip to stop myself from crying out. While being distracted, he had used his leg to kick me down. God, why must he be so gor -

Punch!

This time, I couldn't stop the groan that escape my lips. Frustrated, I thought of how I had never given up on a fight, and I sure as hell was not going to start now.

With that new goal set in mind, I hastily brought up my knee toward his stomach again and rolled over to the side before standing. I realised there was a pattern going on. One minute it was like I was in the lead, and the next minute I was almost defeated. Just as I was about to nudge my elbow to his back, he stood up and used his elbow to hit my face instead, making me fall back onto the ground. He raised his leg, ready to step on me. Ugh, this is it then. I'm going to lose. For the first time ever-

All of a sudden, sirens filled the air, indicating the arrival of the...police?

Holy crap!

Mike began giving instructions, ''Everyone, out through the emergency door, now!'' And with that, he opened another door that led outside and climb through first. What the...I didn't even know about that!

Matt gave a short glance towards me for a while, before running there too. His sparkling midnight blue eyes...they filled with annoyance, anger and were...apologetic? I can seriously understand the annoyance and anger part, but what was there to be apologetic about?

I was so caught up with my thoughts that I had forgotten the situation at hand. I guess I now understood why he was apologetic...

''This is the police! Do not move!''

Matt's POV

I couldn't help but gave her an apologetic look before running away. I knew she was going to get caught, seeing as she was on the ground and most probably in pain making it hard to get up quick.

I would have helped her up, if it wasn't for my job. I couldn't risk getting fired from being a teacher, though I'm pretty sure the students are going to have a field day.

I decided to be a teacher because of my grandfather who had raised me when I was unwanted by my parents. Which was every single time, sadly. I didn't even want to think about them. They were the reason I was always angry.

I reached my car which I had parked near the emergency exit and hastily got in. As I drove back to my apartment, I couldn't help but think of the girl, which I found out was named Danielle. She looked younger than 20 years, yet she was such a good fighter. Though this was the first time I had ever fought with another person, I had always trained in the gym, punching my everyday friend - the punching bag.

My mind drifted off to Danielle. There was something about her that made her different from other girls, although I was not quite sure what it was.

My mind drifted further to her slim figure, long brown wavy hair and not to mention those forest green eyes that captured my attention the most the first time I saw her. I suddenly remembered how I had acted towards her at that time and immediately felt guilty. This was what my parents had made me into: a short-tempered guy. People usually feared me whenever I get angry, however, Danielle didn't even seem fazed by how angry I got, and instead tried to annoy me further.

If I ever meet her again, I was bound to go crazy.

A/N: So what do you think is going to happen to Danielle now that she's caught? And Matt's parents are idiots don't you think?
