"One Chance,"

Unedited

I couldn't help but frown at my reflection in the mirror.

The dress I wore barely reached half my thighs.

But that was the least of my worries.

I moved closer to the mirror and examined my neck.

A red bruised circle rapped around that very part.
As I caressed my bruised neck, wincing at a spot or two, I couldn't help but remember how dazed Axel had left me.

Its funny how things escalated that quickly. He had almost strangled me to death, then seconds later he licked my neck sensually... Or hungrily?
He had wanted blood. My blood.
But the weird thing is he hadn't? Didn't vampires lack restraint? Weren't they viscous scoundrels? He doesn't... Seem that way though. Though the very vampire I speak of had almost taken my life, I still had a tinge of sympathy for him. I had clearly insulted the fool in front of his brother. But hey, saying they were annoying would be an understatement.

You didn't say he was a fool when you were moaning though.

A voice in my head said, causing my frown to deepen. I'm going to assume that's my conscience.

What I shared with Axel was merely something personal, he was just doing some vampire shit.

Slouching on the couch across from my bed I flipped through the pages of a fashion magazine Alecia had brought to me the other day.

Stopping at a particular page, I skimmed through the pictures until my eyes landed on the dress that had caught my eye.

Before I could admire the details of the dress, a knock sounded on my door causing me to scowl.

"What?" I snapped, not caring who stood behind there.

Stomping towards the door I twisted the lock, then turned the handle.

You can't be too careful. The lock might save me from being drained one day.

As I opened the door I couldn't help but soften my features as I stared at a quivering Alecia.

"I-I'm sorry for disturbing you, but the lord requests your presence in the dinning room."
She said, her voice soft almost frail.

"Okay... And uh sorry for shouting at you." I said with an apologetic smile.

"It is alright," she said her Spanish accent rich as ever.

"Please follow me," she said after giving me a once over.

I followed the petit girl, her hair securely tied up in a cream cloth as she moved silently, I couldn't help but wonder if she's like them.

She seems human to me.

For the third time today a frown etched its way onto my lips.

"Alecia?" I said trying to catch up to her as we round a corner.

"¿Si?" She said not turning.

"Are you... Like them?"

Silence engulfed us. It was as if I hadn't asked her anything. Slowly my frown deepened.

Maybe she didn't hear?

Clearing my throat my lips parted to ask the question once more, but before I could form the sentence she spoke.

"No." She simply said.

But why'd it take her so long to say no?

"Then-" before I could finish what I was about to say; she pushed two wooden double doors open and spoke.

"Master awaits," she said, her expression passive.

Entering the dinning room, I couldn't help but silently stare at the room in awe. It was without a doubt magnificent.

Though the sight was beautiful and alluring, the large low lit dinning room begged for occupants.

Granting the rooms wish... And my Masters, I entered the room and silently sat.

Staring at the wall, I waited.
