"Mom, why they have to move in with us?", I asked her.

"Because I'm going to marry that man, Betty.", my mom scolded me and I just rolled my eyes. "Why am I even discussing this with you?!", she raised her voice.

It's the same thing with her all the time. I don't understand why I can't just live with my sister Polly.

"I don't want them to live with us.", I complained.

"Please, try to be happy for me?", she said, but I can't.

This is the second time she gets married and I know I'll miss my old life.

"Betty?", she insisted and I nodded and offered her a smile.

I went back to my room and locked the door. I lie back onto my bed angry with my mother.

Apparently since we have the bigger house they're moving here, because no one has the money to buy a new one.

"Betty, come down they're here.", I heard my mother's voice from downstairs.

I got out of bed and went downstairs. I saw two people ahead of me. An old guy and a teenage guy.

I didn't bother to greet them, I just went back into my room. I get in and shut myself in once again.

It's like that moment when your family comes over and you just lock yourself in your room, it's what I'm gonna do.

I snapped out of my thoughts when I heard someone banging on my door and groaned. "Betty! Get out now!", my mom demanded and I opened my door and there she was standing with her hands to the side.

"What?"

"Come down, meet your new family.", she said through her teeth.

I groaned and went downstairs.

"Betty, meet your brother, Billy.", she smiled.

"Step.", I corrected and he smirked, but she looked at me in such a way.

"Betty, be nice!", she whispered.

"You look different...than I imagined."

He looked at me. "And you look pretty...unpleasant."

He measured me with a frozen look. Despite the fact that I was afraid of his character, I was still amazed of
his physical appearance, and that's what I'm disgust of.

In physical terms, Billy was my dream, in every other my nightmare.

My mother went down the stairs and hugged Billy. "I'm glad to see you again, Billy."

He pulled away. "I wish I could say in the same way."

His father went on the staircase threatening him. "Stop it, Billy! Greet Alice and Betty nicely."

"Hey, mom!", he said with such sarcasm. "And hello sister.", and emphasized the word sister. "Happy?", he looked at his father and he just sighed and Billy went into his room.

My mother put her hand on his shoulder. "It's okay, he will relax, it's not easy to move from California, over here. He doesn't know me. He's just a little scared."

"A little unknowable sucker, that's what he is."

I have to say that I was surprised about the way he talked about his son, no matter how bad Billy was.

That night, Billy remained behind the closed doors. His father decided to go to his room and then we heard arguing, but mom said that it's for the best for us to stay away.

But I didn't listen, I went where the sound of slamming door came from and I saw Billy outside sitting on the deck chair in front of pool smoking weed.

"I guess I'm not the only one rebellious here.", I said and he turned around.

"Who cares, now leave me alone...", he said forgetting my name.

"Betty."

"Yeah, that."

"You know, it's not attractive when guys smoke.", I jumped out of nowhere.

"I don't smoke."

"Then I'm blind.", I said with sarcasm.

"And it's your problem why?", he spat and I laughed.

"I really don't care what you do.", I said.

"Good, then leave.", he fired back.

"I'm on my way."
