Breathe.

Throwing myself into the opposite of my previous position on the floor, I sat up in a desperate attempt to clear my throat enough to breathe. I hunched over, coughing up whatever fluid and solid that decided to make itself known.

Finally being able to breathe, I flickered my gaze left and right, taking mental notes for where I was.

And who I was with.

Looking down I noticed a girl with straight, dark brown hair, a slim figure, and closed eyes. Around us was a small metal cage with a few crates lying here and there. Despite the ringing in my ears, I could still hear the sound of an animal squawking about as it attempted to get out of the crate.

And that's when I noticed one major detail.

We were going up.

Quickly.

Very quickly.

My gaze captivated itself in utter terror as it stayed glued to the quickly approaching ceiling. I threw my hands up in a desperate attempt to shield my head, knowing either way we'd both surely die.

That is, until the cage stopped short.

My heartbeat drummed loudly in my ears, I wondered if the girl could hear it too. If she was awake, that is. To my confusion and terror, the ceiling split apart, both moving off to different sides as I finally saw what awaited for me above.

Boys.

A whole lot of them.

To any other girl maybe this was a blessing. Maybe it'd even be a blessing to me.

The only thing that held me back was the knowledge, or lack of it, that I didn't know my name, where I was, nor who any of them were.

A series of gasps and whispers rung out through the crowd as they looked between the two of us.

It was then that I noticed another lacking aspect.

No girls.

No wonder they were so surprised.

I narrowed my eyes, glaring at each person that met my gaze in an attempt to hide what I truly felt, fear.

"A...girl?"

"Two girls at that."

"But didn't we just get another shipment?"

"What's going on?"

"This can't be right."

"Thomas, what did you do?!"

It became more and more apparent that panic was beginning to rise through the crowd. Which, in turn, made panic rise within me.

What are they going to do to us? Did this "Thomas" have something to do with this? What new shipment?-

My train of thought got cut short by the sleeping girl beside me.

Or at least, was sleeping girl.

She gasped loudly, coughing violently as her eyes snapped open to reveal blue irises, instantly making the crowd silence themselves.

"Th-Thomas..." We all watched in shock as her hand weakly reached up towards said male, failing in its attempt as it fell back beside the girl.

I slowly turned my head upward, noticing that the rest of the boys had their head turned towards one in particular. I could only assume that was Thomas.

It didn't take them too long after to begin hopping down into the cage, picking up my "cage buddy" first before turning to me.

Oh hell no.

The second they turned towards me, I jumped up towards the edge of the cage, pulling myself up. I then darted toward any direction in particular, anywhere that was isolate.

My gaze landed on an opening in the giant walls around me.

Perfect.

"Ah, shuck it, I'm not doing it this time."

"Wait!"

"Welp, there goes another one. Good going, Thomas. You're affecting the greenies now."

"Will someone go after her?!"

"I got it, I got it."

I could hear the soft "thud" of footsteps behind me, making me attempt to quicken my speed.

That, too, was a fail.

Within a matter of 20 seconds, I was flung to the ground by a fleshy mass, one of the boys in the group.

Thomas, of all people.

He pinned me to the grass to keep me from thrashing about, grunting as he struggled in the slightest to do so.

"You'll die if you go through there!"

I paused in my endeavor to escape, silently stuck there against the ground.

"...Thank you." He moved off of me, slowly getting up as he was obviously preparing to have to repeat his actions if necessary.

"We're not going to hurt you, we want to help you."

I continued my act of silence, looking over the man in confusion and fear.

"Do you remember your name?" I shook my head, mumbling a quiet "no." This brought a reassuring smile to the male's face, waving his hand.

"Don't worry, it comes back within a day or two."

Behind him I noticed the other men walking over, a few saying how close I was to death incarnate.

One man out of the rest extended his hand, his aura expelling authority and maturity.

"Welcome to the Glade."

~ Time Skip ~

It'd been a day since I arrived at Glade. During this time I got used to my job being a med-jack, talking with the British adorable baby-cheeked boy known as Newt, the jokester Minho, and the sweetheart of a boy named Thomas.

In mid-conversation with the British marshmallow I noticed a sound.

An alarm.

I watched as Newt's eyes widened in alarm, him shaking his head in confusion and worry.

"...This is impossible."

Newt jumped up into a run, me following closely behind as I felt fear rise inside me once again.

Wasn't this only supposed to happen once a month?

By the time we got there the doors were only just beginning to open, captivating everyone including myself.

Inside lay a man with dark brown hair, a sharpened jaw that could cut diamonds, and a frame that put some of the other boys to shame.

His actions followed closely to the girl earlier who's name I learned is Teresa. He coughed up as much as he could, gasping awake as his eyes looked around at everyone in both fear and confusion. This time, however, he stayed awake.

While everyone else was excited and worried at the thought of a new Greenie, my only thought was on his eyes.

I've seen those eyes before.

I know I have.

And when his gaze stopped on mine, the growl ceasing, I knew that he knew mine.

Confusion still lay across his face, however, meaning he had the same thought as I.

We could only remember the eyes and nothing more.
