Memory I

"I thought I had made myself clear, that when she awakes, you will bring her to my office at once!"

All three of you swirled around to the harsh voice of a young blonde man.

"I'm sorry, headmaster Deusericus..."

The nurse was very silent and looked to the floor as she spoke to the newcomer.

"First of all, she is my nurse and assistant. AND this one is my result of my research, so there were no need for you to come by."

"You're wrong, Dr. Hojo. Diamond will become a SOLDIER and this is the reason, why you had the opportunity to do this hazardous operation. So for now, I will overlook your insubordination and take the young recruit with me."

The headmaster of the SOLDIER entity turned to you and looked stern in your eyes. You didn't flinch or anything, because in comparison to the nurse and the doctor, this man was sympathetic.

"Are you ready to take a walk with me around your new home, recruit? And to change into appropriate clothes, of course."

After you had nodded and got to the young man, you could see the small cheering smile on his lips, so small, that only you could register it. And so, with no second gaze back to the weird doc and nurse, you followed the man named Lazard Deusericus out of the labour.

"So, if I have any questions, I can ask you now?"

Your voice sounded a bit suppressed, because you were just putting on the SOLDIER knitted-wool pullover in a cabinet. Next, you fastened your belt a little bit more and tested the fit of your boots and the other gear of your new stuff.

"Of course, because now I have the time. But I have to bring you to your admission within thirty minutes."

"Okay, I am finished. So, why should I fight for Shinra? Especially I? Is it all because of the operation?"

"I'm sorry, but yes. This is the first time we had to make this severe decision for someone..."

"Not from your company, you wanted to say."

"Yes. We want you to join the SOLDIER unit to fight, so we can see, if the operation has worked out, or if there are any problems. If it works, it would help so many good fighters, to prevent their deaths."

You had to let it sink and after that, you answered the unspoken question.

"I will do as you say. I have nothing left and if this could help to improve healing wounds and such... it's a better purpose than only hunting down monsters. But I have one condition. I don't want to be observed by this doctor again."

"Recruit Diamond, I'm sorry but you have to. And you have to follow the orders and rules. Your new life has already started and only the president himself can do such a big favour for you."

And so you sighted about that but you had imaged it, that you would not have a choice. After that short discussion with the director, he brought you to a conference room. Within that spacious room, there was a big round table and around which many people in various uniforms were seated. To your misery, since because of the incident you couldn't recognise any of them. But if you had, would you have realised that you were facing the SOLDIER's 1st-class and the president of Shinra Corp?

Lazard offered you a seat, but you weren't someone to sit peacefully in such a moment, so you stood straight in front of all the man. With a stern expression on your face, you watched Lazard's face a little bit too intensively and straightforward. But you couldn't resist to show the rebellious side of yours.

"Now, let's start with the meeting then...", the President said.

"You all know about the little occurrence at the village close to the port city Junon, where a small SOLDIER unit has found the woman in front of us. Her name is Diamond, she will join the SOLDIER forces. Since she's a monster huntress, I want to test her strength and knowledge, so we can see into which class she can be specified. So for today, I wanted to introduce her to you all." He made a pause, then he continued. "Zack, I want you to show her around and take her to her prepared room."

A young black-haired man pushed himself off of the wall to your left side and stepped next to you. He pointed to the door with his thumb, then the two of you left the conference room. You followed the young man and he showed you the big spacious headquarters and the labyrinth of rooms and floors. Meanwhile, he had introduced himself as Zack Fair and told you that he was a SOLDIER 2nd-class. He also informed you about your schedule for these next days, about your training and finally the classification. At the end of the two hours long tour, he brought you to the recruit rooms. Because you were one of the rare female recruits, you had gotten a separate room for yourself.

"Thanks Zack, for showing me around and for the information I should know", you said in front of the closed door of your room.

"No problem. Anyway, if you have any questions you can ask me anytime. Here", the younger man handed you a mobile phone. "It's yours now. The most important numbers that you might need are saved. Wish you a good afternoon, oh and dinnertime is at 7 pm."

"Thank you", you said, pocked in the phone and put the electrical card into a device beside the door.

A little unlocking noise was heard and then you could take back the card and enter the little dull room. With a sigh on your lips, you closed the door behind you and landed on the small bed.
