Niall's nimble fingers gripped the cold glass desk. His eyes narrowed with annoyance. "Look, I need to speak with Mr. Payne. It's important" Niall's knees were shaking with anger and a smudge of fear. After the suit encounter with Liam Payne, Niall had been antsy with fury. How dare the older man treat him with such disrespect. Niall wanted to give him a piece of his mind. As much as the older man was ravishing, Niall also disliked his attitude.
The woman glared up at Niall again. His long manicured nails sleepily tapped away on the glass desk. "As I said, no" Her bored and uninterested tone made Niall want to blow up. The imaginary steam was blowing out of his ears by now.
Niall's teeth gnawed at his bottom lip. This tall, black haired bitch wasn't giving in to Niall's needs. "Call him," Niall said, anger in his voice. "Call him, let me speak to him for a minute. I'll be quick" Niall was desperate, his voice becoming whiny. He needed to see Liam Payne. Give him an ultimatum. Apologise and let him have a second chance to interview him or Niall would tell the world who he really was. An inconsiderate asshole. The black haired woman sighed. "It's your life on the line hunny," Niall watched as her boney fingers pressed zero. "Mr. Payne, yes I'm sorry to bother but there's a boy wanting to speak to you. Yes Sir, he's blonde and short"
Niall's eyes widened as the woman handed Niall the phone. He's toes twitched in anticipation. God, his palms started to sweat too. What if Liam didn't listen to what Niall had to say? Niall pressed the phone to his ear. "Hello? It's me, Niall Horan?" Niall listened as a chuckle was heard through the other end of the phone. Niall rolled his eyes at the childish giggle on the other end.
"Are you stalking me, Mr. Horan?" Liam's rough voice was heard through the line.
Niall's eyes darted around the room. Nobody was paying attention to him. "Oh fuck you, I just wanted to talk" Niall immediately regretted his forwardness. He regretted coming here too.
"Put Laura back on the phone, now" Niall grimaced at the coldness of his tone. He handed the phone back to the skinny woman. He watched as she nodded and spoke in a hushed tone. Once she hung up, she looked up at Niall with a bored expression. "Carl will be here shortly" Niall frowned, his mouth opened but the black haired woman shushed him. "I'd advise you to stay quiet, Mr. Payne isn't feeling that nice today" Niall gulped down the saliva that built up in his mouth. Who is Carl? Oh no, Mr. Payne is probably going to kick him out.
"Mr. Horan, I presume?" Niall was greeted buy a tall slim man, his black suit and white shirt making him blend in with the rest of the company. This must be Carl. Maybe he was Security? Oh god. What if he ended up in jail? Niall wasn't cut out for that stuff.
"Yes. I just wanted to speak to Mr. Payne, that's it. I didn't mean to cause any trouble" Niall announced, pleading to the man. He glanced up at the taller man with hope.
"And you will get your talk with Mr. Payne I'm just a moment" Niall stared at the man, Carl. He was very professional. No doubt one of Mr. Payne's employees. Niall looked from side to side. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Everyone was carrying on what they were doing and that's why Niall was having an internal battle with himself. Was he just suppose to stand here? Then all could be magically placed before his eyes? "I don't understand" Niall felt a chilling presence. Well you could call it chilling, everyone seemed to have there heads down. Walking at a quick pace, not even daring to look in the direction Niall stood in.
"My house, come along. I haven't got all day for you" Niall's head snapped towards the harsh voice. Nialls nose was filled with the scent of coffee and musk. Niall hated coffee. Niall was suddenly brought back down to earth and dropped on his arse. He snorted, letting Mr-Rich-Dick know he was staying put. "I'm not going to your house, I don't know you" Niall knew since he was little, never to talk or go anywhere with a stranger. He already talked to the bastard so he most certainly will not break the second rule.
Mr. Payne had already nodded to Carl, letting him know to get the car ready. He had in fact been listening to the small blond, but he was having no of it. If he wanted to talk, he was coming. No pun intended. "What exactly do I aim to do to you? Huh?" Mr. Payne started walking towards the glass doors, people not daring to make any sort of eye contact. The witty and short blond right behind him. Liam could see he was struggling with the long strides he was taking. "I am going to give you your talk, that's it. Now, I swear if you don't move along I will carry you to my car instead" Mr. Payne was serious. He didn't care if people would stare. He didn't care in the slightest.
Niall was a little out of breath. So, trying to be the professional he was he swallowed back the sharp breaths. "I just don't feel comfortable getting in a car with two strangers" Niall was try to be a man. Trying being the key term. Failing being the right term. Stepping up to the extremely rich man was the main focus.
"I've cancelled important meetings with extremely important clients for this. Move now or I swear you'll regret not moving" Niall being the coward he was, got in the back seat of the car. The car smelled like it was just bought, that fine scent of leather made him calm down. The interior of the car was black, nothing special nor nothing exciting. The windows were tinted, from the outside you could not see in but from the inside Niall could see everyone and everything that passed by. The car was spacious, Niall was able to sit comfortable in the back seat although Mr. Payne's legs were spread apart and his right knee grazed Niall's.
"Mr. Payne, would you like the glass up?" Niall's head snapped up as the black glass made it's way up. Niall felt his heart rate pick up as the silence filled the back of the car. What if Liam was a murderer? Killing pray in the back seat of his car?
"Seat belt on now" Niall winced quietly as the demand came. He instantly put on his seat belt. Safety first as Niall would say. Niall decided to get a conversation going. Although he was convinced he was about to be murdered or his eyes were going to be used as bouncy balls. "I've to be home by seven" Niall didn't actually needed to be, but he felt safer saying it. But he wanted to let Mr. Payne know that if he was going to do something, people would defiantly be out looking for him.
"You'll be back before then," Mr. Payne slide out his mobile phone. His fingers began typing away. Too fast for Niall to follow. "Have I met your magazines standards?" He asked as he stared out his window, the buildings flying by.
"I've yet to write and edit it" Niall muttered, his eyes on Mr. Payne's right hand. Niall was slightly uncomfortable as to what Mr. Payne's hand was doing. His thumb was grazing over the grey his own slacks. Niall was confused as to why he was doing that. Where Mr. Payne's thumb was, was close to an intimate place. Maybe it calmed him down?
Mr. Payne sighed softly. They were close to his place. He needed a drink to quench his thirst. He also need sleep. He had little over four hours sleep last night due to his work and his personal workout. "Slow worker I presume?"
Niall felt like blowing up. He took a well needed gulp of air and carried on with the conversation. "I've a couple of weeks to work on it, so no I'm not a slow worker"
"Am I that important?" A cocky, yet slightly tired, smirk was held on to the chiseled face. Niall wanted to smack it off Mr. Payne's face so badly.
Not in my eyes" The car came to a stop, Niall could see they were in a private parking garage. There was a white door to Nialls right side. Niall was eager to find out what was behind it.
Mr. Payne's hand clamped down on the door handle. Who did this fool think is is? "I'd advise you to keep that mouth closed Niall" The small blonde infuriated him. Boiled his blood. He wanted to punish the blonde for being disobedient.
"I can do what I want, it's my mouth" Niall replied, following Mr. Payne's movements with opening the car door slightly.
Mr. Payne got out of the car and walked with force to the white door. He punched in the four coded number "Go on, keep doing what you want. You'll regret it" He pushed open the heavy door and was met by black shiny elevators. Niall followed, his hand placed neatly at his sides while Mr. Payne pressed the button for the elevator.
"I wont" He replied not so smartly. Niall did immediately regret his choice of words.
"You've no idea what you just got yourself in to" Mr. Payne replied as they entered the elevator.
