"Aww man I remember when you fed me that nasty mix granny handed to you for fever, I could never keep all dat down" I said laughing looking at his wrinkled face, the line on in his forehead were going to take some time to get used to
"Yo mama believed in that shit and you know me, being a sucka for her" he said laughing
"You're worse than me with Bey, at least i sometimes get away with saying no to her" I continued to tease my old man, he looked at me proudly as silence surrounded us
We were on top of a mountain, surrounded only by the trees and the birds roaming in the sky. We could hear the natural water running between the creeks of the mountains. The sound of it relaxed my soul
"You know" my attention dotted to my old man as he began his sentence "when your mother and I decided that she would be great for you, we didn't really know what to expect" he said quietly but the silent make him clear
"We found her mother watching helplessly as that man... as that man broke her" he sighed, hard. I couldn't react as i just froze
"She's been through a lot, Robyn" he said turning to me, surprise splashed through my face at him calling me by that name
"I know" I horses out through the struggle to hear my own voice. "I'm afraid I'm going to lose her" I voiced out my worry as I began to regain my consciousness
My father instead returned a soft chuckle shaking his head, I looked at him in wonder
"That's impossible, unless of course you make your marriage less innocent, you have absolutely nothing to worry about." He said confidently
"You didn't hypnotize her into falling in love with me, did you?" I asked wary
"I'm not a fool" he said sternly, seemingly insulted by my question. He relaxed a few seconds later.
"Yes we thought she would be perfect for you but we didn't know certainly. She chose you herself, from the moment she saw your eyes- though she hadn't known- she saw herself in you. Nothing you did would've stopped this" he said looking at me, he was looking in my eyes so I knew he wasn't lying
I sighed before shaking my head, "this is weird" I mumbled out
"I know but it's destiny" he finished.
"No I mean... shit pops, where did you learn all that proper English?" I asked and he busted out a laugh
"Nigga, I hang with them proper ass niggas all day so I had to adapt" he said and we laughed again.
"Plus you gotta admit, this angel stuff is badass" he joked and I chuckled nodding. I missed my mother.
"Mom... I miss her so much" I told the old man. He simply nodded
