|Chapter: 11|

I wish I could say that the week went by with a blink of an eye just like any other teenagers but no in my case it went with me sulking between school and house.

Sarah and Salvor were out of town for the week. When they got the news of their grandfather's death, they flew to New York the very next day. So it was just me dragging my feet on the hallways in school while people gave me different kind of look.

Understandable when you have issues with the school's bad boy. The news of him saving me has spread around when in reality I was the one almost got assaulted while saving him. I could have just ignored him that night but I didn't for some unknown reasons.

Today is Friday and I can't wait for the school to end. I took out my books for Physics AP from the locker when someone tap on my shoulder. I turned to look at a blonde haired boy smiling sheepishly at me.

"I'm new here. Could please guide me to physics AP?", he asked scratching the back of his neck.

"Oh sure. Luckily I'm heading there too", I gestured with my hand to follow.

We started walking together, in a peaceful silence. We had to cross the soccer ground because it was in the other building. Judging from his appearance, I could tell he was a somewhat nervous, shy and I found that cute. Beside Salvor I never had any guy friend and he's totally not the shy kind. He cleared his throat before saying, "By the way I'm James."

"Nice to meet you James. I'm Serena", I said with a smile as I tilted my head to look at him.

That's when I saw Nickel only in his blue shorts. He was running to the goalpost with the ball on his feet, swiftly carrying it with ease. The basketball cheer squad going crazy near the bleachers as they cheer for him, abandoning their practice. I rolled my eyes at them, practically. Why would he be shirtless in this cold weather?

Smoothly, he did his skills and dug by the defenders easily before kicking the ball one last time and thats it. GOAL!!

"Woah that was awesome!", James exclaimed bringing my attention back to him. And I noticed how we actually stopped at a spot and started watching the match for a quite long time. "Man, dude got skills."

I nodded in agreement. No doubt, Nickel had good skills and runs faster than any other player. But unfortunately he doesn't play for the school team and I wonder why? And again, I turn back to look at him.

He just stood there, with his hands on his hips breathing heavily as he look up at the sky. His bare chest, rising and falling, and the defined muscles in right places of his body, making his physique at point perfect.

The reason why school's girl population is head over heels for him and can go to many different level of extents to have his attention only for once and get their hearts broken later. Some girls still stood at the bleacher fangirling because of the goal and were definitely drooling over him. And what he was doing? Putting on a show for them, cocky bastard.

And like always he caught my eyes on him but it didn't stay longer on me like other time. He looked at the guy standing beside me and then back at me. Embrassed of the fact that I was one of the many girls checking him out, I lowered my eyes.

The final bell rang. Instantly I took hold of James' hand and pulled him with me to the class.

During the lunch, James and I sat at the usual table where I always sit with the twins. He told me his father was a police officer who just got transferred yesterday and they had to come here. James told me it was hard for him to leave Hemberly, coincidentally the place I grew up in.

The place where we had our own apartment when dad was with us. It was fun talking with him. He told me how the place developed within the years and he asked me if I remember the biggest flower garden in the city where all kinds of flower bloomed. Of course I did. I could never forget that beautiful place where my mom took me for walks. His eyes would shine with happiness whenever he described the beauty of the place and I was enjoying his company and most importantly I was happy with him. He was a good company.

But nothing that makes makes me happy last forever.

The sound of boot and clapping came from the table behind us. We both turn around at the same time to look. Zac Jones stood at the table with a smirk on his face and hands clutched together. And Nickel took the seat facing us with his arms rested behind on the table. He changed into his black attire again from his shorts. He was just staring straight at nothing. What do they want now?

As to answer my question Zac started, "So we have a new student here. I was just wondering why don't we give him a chance to introduce himself and throw a welcome party."

The smirk on his face, clearly gave me the idea what was going to happen next. My stomach twisted into knot, making me nervous and I turn to see James. His face flashed red and looked frightened as well.

I've seen Nickel and his group bully some students before and the results were often bad. Some of them even left the school because of them. They were rich and cruel.

But I won't let that happen to James. He was a nice guy and Nickel could easily get into trouble since James' father was a police. Even in times like this, I was thinking about his well being. What is wrong with me?

James didn't move a inch from where he stood and that seems to anger Zac for not doing as he said. He jumped down from the table and stride straight towards James.

I don't know what got inside me but I stepped in front of James as Zac neared him. Nickel whipped his head to our direction with his eyes widen with my sudden action. No one goes against the bad boys but I couldn't let them bully James. He didn't deserve that.

"Move aside Williams", Zac ordered with gritted teeth not looking in my eyes. My body started to tremble with fear even though I was sure he won't hit a girl. Never.

Without even bothering to say anything in return to him, I turn my head to James and took his hand in mine. "Lets go." He nodded to me and I pass him a smile softly.

"You little bitch..." Zac started to say but was stopped by Nickel, when he grabbed his arm and glared at him. That seem to anger Zac more, before he snatch away his hand from Nickel's hold and stormed out.

Taking my chance, I pulled James away with me out of the cafetaria too.

The rest of the day went with me always zoning out of the class. Thinking about the things that's happening lately. Issues with the bad boys increasing with the days that passed. I just need to stay out of all these for six more months and then I'll be out of this town.
