A/N: so I'm writing this at 1am because I can't sleep because I watched The Woman in Black (bc Harry Potter) and it kind of scared the shit out of me and the sweet movie I wanted to watch after (Snow White) kept skipping :/ so sorry if it doesn't make sense :L anyway sorry it's taken me so long with this I just got a job and I have school too. Enjoy XD

"I'm sorry, Ceneedra," my old orphanage manager-thing, Ms Lewis said. "No one knows anything about your mother."
"Okay, that's cool," I sighed.
"It's good to see you," Ms Lewis said.
I nodded awkwardly.
"You definitely have changed," She carried on.
"Well, I was eight when I left," I reminded Ms Lewis awkwardly.
"Yes, well," Ms Lewis began.
"I should go," I said slowly.
"Right, well, goodbye, Ceneedra," my old nightmare said.
"Bye," I said quietly before walking out of the place I hated when I was little.
As I walked down the steps, I accidentally bumped into a Middle aged lady.
"Sorry," I apologised.
The lady just glared at me and carried on. I rolled my eyes and walked to the spot I used to hang out at with Alex.
I sat down in the long grass and listened to the music on my phone. The music was the only sound I could hear... until my phone went off.

From: Daddy Whiskey Hands
Where are you?

To: Daddy Whiskey Hands
Out. I'll be home in an hour.

When I had send the message, I changed his contact name to Mike. For some reason, I couldn't keep calling him Dad. It felt wrong despite what Justin said.
"You ok?" A voice I hadn't heard in months asked.
I turned around to face Alex. "Um, yeah, fine."
He didn't say anything but just sat down beside me.
We sat there in silence for a while before it got too much for me.
"I should go." I said.
"Stay, please," Alex replied.
I shook my head. "Mike wants me home soon."
Alex raised his eyebrow in confusion.
"My, um, Dad," I explained.
"Why did you call him Mike?"
"Shit happened."
"Oh,"
We went back into an uncomfortable silence until I, again, broke it.
"You know, you were a dick at your party." I told him.
"What? How?" Alex demanded.
"You let your sleazy friends do whatever the fuck they wanted." I said harshly. "Luckily Holly got me away from them."
"Is that why you stopped talking to me?" Alex asked softly.
"One of them." I replied standing up.
"What's the other?"
"Your girlfriend." I said before walking off. I quickly made my way back home where I hid in my bedroom for the rest of the day.
"Cen," Mike said knocking on my bedroom door. "Want some pizza?"
"Not hungry," I replied as my stomach grumbled.
"Do you wanna watch a movie?"
"No thanks."
"Can we talk?"
"I'm reading."
The door swung open and Mike walked in looking upset. "Are you mad at me for not giving you the letter?"
I shrugged not taking my eyes away from the John Green book I held in my hands.
"Cen, can you just talk to me please?" Mike almost begged.
I placed my bookmark in my book before putting in down with force. "About what?"
"Anything, I just miss spending time with my daughter."
"But I'm not your daughter." I said quietly looking down at the red cover of my book. That was the first time I had ever said that, and it hurt.
"Cen," Mike sighed.
I looked up at him to see hurt glistening in his eyes. "It's true," I told him. "We've just been pretending this whole time."
Mike looked down at his tattooed hand.
"Can I just be alone please?" I asked.
Mike nodded and left the room.
I picked up my book again and continued reading. I had read ten pages before my phone started ringing.
Unknown Number.
"Hello?" I answered.
"Is this Ceneedra?"
"Yes, who is this?"
"It's Ms Lewis. We found your mother."

A/N: sorry it's short and probably shit but I'm struggling with the length at the moment, hopefully future chapters will be longer (: can anyone guess what book Cen's reading?? I'm currently reading the same one (: I love John Green (: anyways hope you're enjoying this story so far and please vote & comment (: (I use a lot of smiley faces) much love xx
