Broken But Stronger

12 3 3

Resembling a caged bird's song
And the waves broken by the shore,
The words stuck in my throat,
Have been left unspoken by the core.
With the stories of my past
Haunting my present,
The monsters of truth
Don't seem very pleasant.
Never knew that a betrayal
Could leave my canvas blank,
My heart on the edge
And my soul empty and dank.
Like the roots of a tree
That consume the earth to get higher,
You were just a human parasite
Who fed upon my desire.
My vision was clouded,
I couldn't see you through.
Now I've emerged from my ashes
Stronger than you ever knew.

"What doesn't kill you makes you stronger."
-Kelly Clarkson
