I know I'm always late with holidays lol, but I just had to get this idea out of my brain.

BIG SHOTOUT TO julie_sx

Her book Light Me Up is so good! You should totally give it a chance, it's worth it. It's a Shawn's fanfic and includes smut (which I love to read lol).

Y/N's POV

Valentine's Day is my favorite holiday if it even counts like one. I've never had a boyfriend or any love interest on this date, but that doesn't mean I can't spread love to the ones I love the most or everyone in general.

Every year at my high school, the seniors organize plenty of activities to make this day unforgettable. This year is our turn to prepare everything and I'm so excited.

To give you a little background on what its traditionally done, we prepare: love mail, serenades, give away free chocolate, desserts, and flowers. Also, boys dress up as Cupid by taking their shirts off and covering with a white bed sheet. Last but not least, the artistic girls create a themed photo booth where you can take pictures with your friends and crush!

I remember when I was a freshman I always hoped for a flower at lunch break. Even if the guy wasn't really asking me out or anything, the gesture was nice enough to keep me happy all day long.

One of my best friends and I send a serenade to each other anonymously so people think someone has a crush on us. We have done this every year and it so funny to see people's reaction when you know the truth is other.

Senior year is more about giving than receiving, and I'm happy with that. It's our time to give after constantly receiving during three years! I wasn't expecting anything back but a thank you or a smile from the other years.

After dividing into groups, I was left to help cover four different songs for the serenades. We had to choose popular songs that everybody knew and could sing along.

"What about Perfect by Ed Sheeran?" I guy I didn't know too well proposed. Everyone agreed and we started to learn our first song to cover.

"It's he the guy that sings at every talent show?" I whisper to my friend, not trying to call other's people attention.

"He is indeed. He also sings the national anthem every important school game." She informs me. I had never really noticed him before until now.

He was on a corner trying to learn the chords on his guitar when I decided to approach him.

"Hey," I said giving him a friendly smile. "Shawn, right?"

"Yes, and you're y/n, right?" He smiles back.

"How would you know?" I ask curiously.

"We were lab partners back in seventh grade. Plus, you're a cheerleader and I see you at every school game."

I blush at the fact that he was a complete stranger to me, but I wasn't to him. Embarrassed, I thought of turning my heels and leave the awkward situation.

"Which song are you learning?" Was the only question I could come up with. I felt so stupid and regret it instantly. I agreed publicly when Shawn proposed Perfect. I should've walked away.

He gave me a strange look and laughed. I cursed under my breath realizing I facepalmed not only mentally, but physically when asking that dumb ass question moments before.

"Sorry, I don't know why I'm so nervous right now. It's strange of me to act this stupid around cute guys." I stutter.

This time was his turn to blush, I couldn't believe I said that out loud. Ashamed, I mumble a goodbye and head over my friend. I've always been bold and direct, but this time my body wasn't obeying my brain. I don't think it was even working in the first place.

"What the f was that?" She asks in a mocking way once I'm by her side.

"Shut up. My stupid ass completely forgot how to flirt.. At least I got his name right." I say hiding my face with my palms.

"Damn girl, good luck next time." She snorts as she laughs.

I roll my eyes at the point I could see my brain. Yep, it's not there, only intense darkness was visible. I sigh, wondering if it will ever be a next time...
