Long ago, two races ruled over Earth. HUMANS and MONSTERS.
The humans were getting tired of the monsters. They wanted to get rid of them.
The race turned against their monstrous counterparts, declaring war.
This was not a smart idea.
The king of the monsters killed a single human and took their SOUL. He turned into a beast with unfathomable power, and the monsters easily won.
Many died.
The humans' population lost three-fifths of its original size, and they were forced into Mount Ebott.
The monsters sealed them underground using a magic spell, keeping them trapped until they could take seven monster SOULs.
This was, however, almost impossible. A monster's soul does not have the strength to persist after death unless it is the SOUL of a boss monster.
Boss monsters' SOULs have the strength to stay alive longer than the body, if even for a few seconds.
This was the only solution since an incredible power would be needed to take the SOUL of a living monster.
Only one known human had the power to do that, but he often didn't tell anyone about it.
Our story begins 100 years after the events of the War of Humans and Monsters.
