Nervously tapping his feet, Jimin diligently sits on the piano bench, patiently waiting for Yoongi to arrive.

He wants to run through the song once more to make sure he's really got it down, but that means risking Yoongi hearing it when he comes in. The whole day, he hasn't heard from the elder, making him even more anxious.

His heart thumps louder and breath hitches at the sound of the front door opening. In a quick attempt to calm down, Jimin clears his head, chanting in his mind that everything's going to be fine as he takes deep breaths.

The door behind him opens, making him turn around to smile brightly.

"Hello, hyung!" he greets, in hopes that all his nervousness isn't shown.

The man looks a little surprised but smiles back nonetheless, walking over. "Hey, Jiminie. You aren't playing already, today?"

This time, Jimin gets surprised. Had he always played before Yoongi even entered the room? He can't believe that he himself had never noticed. It warms his heart that Yoongi had, making his chest fill up with affection.

"I was waiting for you to come in first," Jimin says, scooting over to the side to make room for Yoongi like he always does, heart racing a little at the anticipation of what he's going to do. He hopes all his efforts wouldn't go down the drain now, on the most important day. (He even practiced the song a little to the left so he wouldn't make any errors right now.)

"There's something I've prepared for you, Yoongi hyung," Jimin shyly mutters after Yoongi's sat down, not meeting his eyes with the other.

"Hm? For what?" Yoongi asks, sounding too oblivious for it being his birthday. Jimin can see right through him.

Laughing a little, Jimin nudges him, "You know what it's for. Don't act like you don't."

This makes Yoongi break into an amused grin, letting out a small chuckle as well. "Well, then. Don't keep me waiting," he playfully says.

Aura radiating happiness, Jimin turns back to the piano, hands up and ready on the keys. The nervousness coming back to eat him up, he doesn't notice his hands shake until Yoongi gently puts his own hand over Jimin's.

"It's just me, you, and the piano, okay?" he hears, and instantly, all his nervousness is gone, not even a trace of it. It's all replaced with the soothing feeling of warm peace that he gets when he's with Yoongi.

Yoongi retracts his hand, going back to his sides.

And, with a deep breath, Jimin starts.

The first note already has Yoongi's heart, snatching him away from this world and placing him somewhere else, somewhere distant but close to his soul. Eyes shut, he sways a little, heart bursting with flavourful joy as the song moves forward.

Pretty sounds continuing, Yoongi just lets himself get lost in the forest of music. He lets himself drown in the ocean of sound.

All the emotions pouring down like a rain of colorful leaves in autumn. A shower of delight, sending him to a paradise he never imagined or thought existed.

The tune then slows down, softly pressing in a deliberate melody, like Jimin is reaching into his heart and making the most beautiful mess, a catastrophe that leaves everyone astounded by its beauty. It's almost like he's trying to tell him something, the way the sound cheekily dances just the way Jimin does; the way the sound pours its soul through the music, just like Jimin does.

But, Yoongi's mind moves with the music, the sound taking a different key, different atmosphere. A complete turn-around from the last part, it's a sad, gloomy strain.
