| chapter four: party |

Lucas never liked school but now it was worse since he believed something was extremely wrong with Jackson Whitmore. The sight of him with scaly skin and lizard eyes had been on his mind ever since the incident in the library. Also he was terrified to meet Scott, he couldn't ignore how his heart always skipped beats whenever he was nearby. It was scary, to want someone so much and not knowing if they felt the same.

He had never experienced love before or even liking someone. He'd never thought of someone as more then a friend, and whenever he got too close to someone he distanced himself. It had always been like this and to suddenly want someone was unusual and a completely new experience.
He should ignore Scott, he had Allison and there was no place for Lucas. It just hurt because the few moments he had been with Scott, he was happy.

As he reached his locker, Danny was there. They were friends but not very close.

"Uh hi?" Lucas spoke, sounding uncertain.

"Hey Lucas, what would you say if I asked you to go to a party with me? " Danny asked with a small smirk on his lips

"I don't really go to parties, uh they don't like me. Last time-" Lucas fumbled with his words but Danny only smiled. Danny glanced over to Scott and Stiles, who seemed to be listening to the conversation and rolled his eyes.

"It will be fun and you can be my wing man, okey? I'll text you the details."

Lucas didn't know how Danny had his number but decided to not ask and nodded. He wondered what he would wear, he didn't even know what kind of party it is! What if it is a party with a theme or something. He decided to
ask Danny about it later and grabbed his history book, with the intention of going to class. Before he could, Scott showed up in front of him a long with Stiles.

"H-hey did Danny just ask you to go to a party with him?" Scott asked carefully.

"Don't go to the party!" Stiles screamed.

"What Stiles is trying to say is that something is going down at the party. We don't want you to get hurt, I don't want you to get hurt." Scott was looking at him intensely as he spoke softly. The last words where emphasized and Lucas didn't know how to react to it. His heart was racing by now and he was growing nervous as he looked at Scott.

"I already said yes to Danny, or he decided that I said yes when I didn't really say anything at all. But I don't want to tell him no and I'll leave early and be careful." Lucas smiled but the brunette before him still looked worried.

"What don't you get? You're small and can't protect yourself so you're not going! There's gonna be-" Before Stiles could finish his sentence he was dragged away by Scott.

Five minutes into the party and Lucas wanted to leave. He regretted dressing up in his favorite blue shirt and fixing his hair. Danny had ditched him right away, it was something about making some ex boyfriend jealous. He was sitting alone while everyone was dancing to the loud, awful music. He had spotted some familiar faces but were too nervous and insecure to go and say hi. He would only make a fool of himself.

After an half hour he began looking for Danny but he was nowhere to be found. He grew slightly panicked in the crowd, there where people exactly everywhere. Teenagers surrounded him, not giving him any space at all. He couldn't breath properly and felt his heart beat fasten. He bumped into Matt as he headed for the door and quickly apologized as he tried to breath properly and not cry. He didn't want to stay anymore, it was all too much and he couldn't handle it. The door closed behind him. Before he could calm down entirely a scream could be heard. Being stupid he decided to go and look, if someone was hurt he wanted to help. And he knew parties where bad places, just last week a girl went missing from a house party. The sky was dark and he was slightly hesitant as he neared the building where the piercing scream came from. As he neared the door a red haired woman stumbled out in a hurry. She didn't even glance at him as she quickly scurried away. The woman looked like she was wounded but before he could ask she was already gone. A grunt was heard from the shed like building and he carefully stepped over the doorstep.

"Scott?"

"Whoever the hell you- oh it's you, help me get him out of here!" The dark haired man he'd met before snarled. The air was thick as he ran towards Scott, who looked to be in a really bad condition.

"What happened?"

"That's none of your business! Just help me get him out of here." Derek spoke and the two carried out the wounded teen. They carefully put him down on the concrete ground and he groaned.

"Stay here with him and I'll get the car. If he stops breathing scream and I'll come." Derek spoke and then quickly left. Lucas held Scott carefully, putting his head in his lap. Lucas was worried and scared, he didn't know what was wrong with Scott. No wound or injury, it had to be something internal.

"Lucas? Why are you here? It's not safe."

"The woman is gone, is she the one who hurt you?" Lucas asked, ignoring Scott's words. "Why would she hurt you?" He continued.

Before Scott could answer car tires screeched and Derek came running.
They lifted him into the car and the older man turned to Lucas.

"Get home. Thank you for helping."

"But I can come with and-"

"No." Derek said sternly." I know you care about him and the stupid fool cares about you too, but you can't come. I'll handle this. Go home."

With those words, Derek hopped into the car and drove away, leaving Lucas with a heavy heart and worried thoughts clouding his mind.
