(I am sooooooooooo sorry all you nonexistent devoted readers, I've had a shit ton of work to do and a heaping dose of writers block... But that's no excuse for being absent this past... month and a half or so. We have six other chapters in progress, but... Another AU to make you feel better. Also I've aged them all up, they're all in college now because I felt like it shut up. Hey. Do you guys miss me when I'm gone? Whatever never mind... Just... Do you like me? Stop. On with the story. Enjoy. I'm sorry that I'm really horrible at writing Kat... I'll stick with Nemesis for now.)
The tinkling noise of the bell over the door sounded a new arrival to the coffeeshop know as Headquarters. A bookish person with a long brown braid and two large textbooks in their arms. The mostly empty café was one of their regular haunts, every afternoon without fail they would come in and do course work over at the booth in the corner.
"Hey Shat!" A girl cried from behind the counter practically tripping over her feet to reach the edge of the counter. "The usual?"
"O-of course Ka-Kat." The girl, Kat, hums while she works in the back room. Shat opens up the first of their textbooks. Shat lost them self in reading, the article was a textbook example of a classic sonnet by Shakespeare. Shat was to translate, and analyze it by their next class. They had almost finished their first read-through when Kat sauntered over with Shat's order.
"One extra large blueberry banana smoothie for my favorite customer!" She punctuated the sentence with a wink, and leaned her elbows against the edge of the table. Shat flushed violently and quickly took a mouthful of smoothie.
"Th-this is really g-good Kat."
"I know... Made with love."
"It's n-n-never this good when Fi-Fire m-makes it."
"That's because I mix a little honey into it after I blend it."
"Well, th-thanks." Kat brushed a lock of hair behind her ear. One of the cat ears on her headband came dangerously close to brushing Shat's temple when she leaned in,
"No problem dearie."
"I... uh-um... Y-yeah?" Kat winks at the flustered English major and sashayed back smiling to herself as she went. As soon as the girl left, Shat tried to get back to their work but found them self distracted. Sighing, they uncapped a silver sharpie and set about doodling on their arm. Ink spilling out into spirals and many sided stars, covering the whole surface of their forearm in patterns of silver ink. They then looked at their other arm. Shat's soulmate's scribbles were mostly indecipherable, but there was a fresh set of equations there. It look like gibberish but at the bottom of the section was three letters circled vigorously in purple ball point pen ink,
e^(πi)
"What the hell does that mean?" They mumbled, almost incoherently to them self, and decided to seek answers. They wrote, What the Hell does that mean? Just beneath it in the same sharpie they'd been doodling with.
Seriously input the math into your calculator. It's trippy.
Kat sighed to herself as she absentmindedly wiped down the counter with a clean rag.
"Kat..." There was no response... "Kat?" Fire was again met with silence. "The kitchen's on Fire." There was still nothing from Kat... She rolled her eyes and put on her best imitation of their mousy haired friend in the corner booth, "Uh... H-h-hey Kat?"
"Yeah?" The girl with the cat eared headband immediately turned around and her face fell when Fire appeared in her vision rather then Shat. "Oh... hey Fire what's up?"
