The sunlight was bouncing off Scrolls scales casting a dark shadow below him as he flew over the trees. His ears twitched as he contended to follow the scream which started to change to a cry. Scroll started to descend into the thick forest of trees. Suddenly the voice went behind him so Scroll twisted around and dive bombed into a bush and looked out to see a patch of open grass. He galloped to the middle of it and looked around. There were no noises except for the crying in his head. No other Rainwing hiding, nor animals. It was like Scroll was running around a dead zone where only grass and some trees live. "Hello?!" He yelled. 'Someone's here!? Can they hear me?' The voice said quickly. It sounded very stressed and frightened at the same time. Scroll read that mind readers have been a threat and that they were dangerous, because of this, he knew not to let anyone know of his powers, 'But then how do I get him to tell me his location.... How ...how... ' Scroll paced thinking.
He forgot how easy it is to think without any other voices talking to you. "Where are you!?" he shouted. 'What should I do..' The trapped dragon thought. "I'm... I'm in a hole under a rock I think.... ugh, that won't work.... why am I this stupid ugh..." Scroll's eyes changed as he scanned for something that seemed 'out of place'. To his right, there was a huge fallen tree. Scroll ran over to it and hopped over to see the other side. He got low to the ground and noticed that the grass seemed to be pressed down and dead but only for the length and width of the log. Scroll hopped over it again and knocked on it a few times. "No way. No way!" The voice said. Scroll then pushed it with all his might. His back talons sunk into the wet grass as he tried to get better footing. His front talons also sunk into the bark of the tree, almost like it was soft. Once the tree started to move, he became less stressed and took his claws off the log and shook them out. He continued this prosses until he could see into a dugout that was underneath the tree. Suddenly there was a smell of death. Scroll fell over and leaped away from the log. A Pale blue Rainwing with white along her wings popped into view right next to Scroll. He took a quick glance at the dragons face - It was Gator.
"Why are you following me?" Scroll said annoyed with one of his hands over his nose/mouth.
Gator did not respond, instead, she covered her nose too and asked- "What did you find!" Then the white under her wings spread to her scales like a glacier rolling down a mountain.
Scroll didn't answer, he took a breath of fresh air and rammed the at the log head first, it rolled completely off the hole and slightly down a small hill. Scroll ran back to where Gator was to take another breath but the smell seemed to spread to where she was. Scroll gagged and nearly threw up and Gator ran further away turning almost completely white. "Help..." Scroll heard coming from the hole again. 'I'm going to regret this...' Scroll thought as he ran over. There was a sick looking Nightwing who looked to be strangled in vines and had a mussel on which held his mouth shut and kept his eyes closed. The dragon was twice the size of him and a much deeper black scale color. The white on his underbelly was dull and his horns seemed to be bigger than typical nightwings. There was a noose around his neck too which was tied so the more he struggled, the tighter it got. There was blood all over him and other little pieces of metal that looked to be pining him in place. Scroll reached down and took the pins out of his scales, then he grabbed the dragon's wings which were limp. That's when Scroll realized the dragon's mind went silent. Trying not to freak out, He pulled them and the dragon to slide out of the muddy hole.
Gator got sick and faced away. Scroll rolled him onto his back and noticed his wings were also tied up. He gagged from the smell and looked into the hole. There was another something else in it. Scroll was suffocating from the smell so he started to drag the dragon to Gator. "Well, I don't want it!" Gator shouted as she backed away he face now green. Scroll set him down and carefully looked him over. He jerked away all of a sudden -as if he just got hit by something. "What?" Gator said taking a few steps forwards.
Scroll was pointing to a deep cut on his back leg which seemed fine at first, (Due to his condition,) But then they both saw it had a different shade of black around it and it seemed to be peeling? No, spreading. It also seemed to have black liquid coming from it. "S-Sandwing poison." Scroll said as he turned to walked away from the scene.
"What are you doing?" Gator asked as she followed.
"I need a minute." Scroll said. He then pivoted around "But. we don't have that much time." He pivoted again, now pacing. "but it would be better is I'm not this stressed...." He stopped and thought- and continued "but he's going to die..."
He took a few deep breaths and then walked back over to the sick dragon and started to untie the vines on his wings. Gator came over and started to work with the muzzle. "He's breathing!" She said as the muzzle popped off. Gators ruff turned indigo as she started to claw at the rope around his neck.
'Ok good' Scroll thought as he got one of the wings free. He placed it gently on the ground. "I'm going to grab some water to wash away the blood." Scroll then jumped up and flew to see a bird's eye view of where they were. Then he dive-bombed into a river. that was located to the left of the scene. 'Bucket. Bucket. I need to find a bucket!' Scroll swam in a circle looking for something. 'Anything!'
There was a rustle in some bushes behind him and his ears shoot up as he listened. 'Wow, a Nightwing out here?' Scroll spun around and saw a group of unhidden rainwings who were watching him. "I need your help!" He shouted as he started to swim to them. 'Nightwing needs help?'- 'What?'-'Oh no.'- 'this cant be good'- wheres Glory when you need her?' There were four Rainwing staring at him, all of their minds were filling with scenarios of why he needed there help. When Scroll could feel the ground, he started to run but continued to fall over in the water.
Once he reached the land, he shook off the water and said out of breath- "Do you know where a bucket is? Like something to hold water?"
"Ooo." One of them said "The kitchen has a ton. Why do you need one?" Said the biggest dragon od the grope. The smaller, probably younger Rainwing started to turn gold with excitement.
"Well we- I found a dragon. He's hurt and we need water ASAP." Scroll said rushing himself. "How far is the kitchen?" He continued and saw shook in the dragon's eyes.
"Can we help?" Said one of the dragonets from behind. Scroll nodded and all 4 of the rainwings went indigo and two of them took to the sky, the others ran into the trees and grabbed the vines and then they were gone.
