The Rainwing looked terrified and his horns were tucked back with fear. Scroll tried to give him a smile but he's never smiled on purpose before and obviously, the Rainwing did not see it as friendly. The dragonet took a few wingbeats backward and he became more pale green. Scroll could here his mind going through all the simple ways that Scroll can kill him, almost making him laugh. "Are you ok?" Scroll asked.
"Umm." The Rainwing started with a shaky voice, that's when Scroll noticed just how small he was. He was not even half the size as Scroll. And I thought I was small.... Scroll thought. "My name is Walnut and I'm reeeally sorry!" Walnut said and then he looked down. He started to pick with his small talons as he continued to talk, "Me and my friend were having race to see who could go the fastest up the sky and... And didn't see you..." The dragonet was basically shaking now and so was his thoughts.
Scroll wanted to try to correct the young dragonets grammar, but he did not have the time so all he said was, "First of all, its 'friend and I', second of all it's ok."
"Walnut?' A voice said from behind Scroll "woah..." Scroll turned around to see nothing but he could hear someone's voice in his head which sounded shocked and frightened.
Gator came out of the trees and flew up next to scroll. She gave Walnut a glare as her scales shifted to emerald green and walnut smiled as her scales started to shift to purple. "Shall we keep going?" Gator said sounding annoyed.
"Sure," Scroll said, she looked at Walnut one more time and heard he think, "well that was awkward". Then the hidden rainwing, "wow..."
They both continued for only around 10 minutes when Scroll's head started to get filled with many voices. He held on hand against his temple to try to push a headache back. He's never been this close to the palace and he forgot why... the voices got louder the closer he got until he was standing on a tree platform.
"You ok?" Gator said when she looked over to see he was wincing with pain.
At first, Scroll could not hear her. He looked around the tree platform which lead to a rope bridge and noticed many eyes watching them. Gator was an interesting color of green and orange but she did not act scared at all nor did she sound annoyed. "Scroll?" She asked again.
"Oh. ya, I'm ok. Just. uhh, the sunlight is very bright here." Scroll looked up at a gap in the trees which was letting a bight beam on sun hit him. He started to walk followers and shook out his wings and tail. "Ok, where are we going?" He asked
Gator walked beside him and was looking around, probably at all the eyes that were watching them. "Oh ya, it's almost sun time." She said.
Scroll looked at her puzzled. 'Can't wait. So tired." Said a different voice form next to him. He looked over and saw a little dragonet trying to stay camouflaged but he had strips of pink going down his sides. "You don't know what Sun time is?" Gator asked like she would have expected him to know. Scroll staled for a moment as he heard a different voice explain what it was.
Scroll did not want Glory and/or Gator to go on and explain it all so he said, "Oh, I know. I read about it, uhh it's where rainwings sleep in hammocks when the sun is right above them right? This.... Uh, Recharges their- Your scales"
"Yep," said a different voice from in front of them. There was a surprisingly big, beautiful dragonet with a sloth clung to her neck in front of them. The dragon's mind told Scroll that she is Glory, queen of rainwings. Queen of...nightwings ?...
"How are you the queen of Nightwing's?" Scroll asked before Glory could say anything else. She straightened her posture and gave Gator a look. Gator shrugged, moved to the corner, and sat down.
"How do you not know?" Glory asked, "almost every tribe knows why, and you're a Nightwing." Glory looked up and down at scroll. "Huh, wired Nightwing" She thought with a smile.
Scroll has never been called 'wired' before. He sometimes told himself that, especially because of his patters but he always called himself strange, which felt better than wired. Wired just left a heavy weight on his chest...
Scroll snorted and gave Glory a glare. "Because I'm different," he said not realizing that he was hinting on his powers.
"Ooo how so?" Gator said now laying all the way down. Scroll rolled his eyes and opened his wings. Then voices from all around 'ooo'-ed and 'wow'-ed to the sight of the shimmerless wings.
Scroll rolled his eyes and closed his wings when suddenly, He clasped to a sound of a scream. "Woah you ok?" Gator said as she got up quickly and slid to his side.
The scream continued and he opened his eyes which were suddenly bloodshot and he looked at Glory trying to hear what she was thinking. Glory looked at Gator and Scroll could not hear anything except the screaming.
"Are you ok?" Glory said as she got closer. Once she was standing over Scroll, he could hear her thoughts again. "What is wrong with this dragonet?!"
"Shut up!" Scroll yelled as he curled into a ball and held his ears. He started to turn his ears to face different directions until he could hear exactly where the screaming was coming from. He opened his eyes and moved his hands as he started to his left, the screaming now getting softer. "I. I need to go." Scroll said as he got up and spread his wings to take off of the bridge.
Gator made an expression to glory who then nodded and said, "Fine, but you better come back by sunset. We need to talk..." Scroll did not even answer, He jumped off of the bridge eyes focused on the ground, and did not even look back.
