MARINETTE'S POV

I looked around, fear radiating from my boiling blood. A cluster of fascinated humans gathered around me, staring and gawking. It made me extremely uncomfortable, especially when a blonde one with pastel yellow clothing kicked my tail with her pointed shoe.

"Don't touch me!!" I yelled, but I was as helpless as an actual, useless, flopping fish out of water. Although I could breathe oxygen, I still felt like I was slowly suffocating from the throbbing anxiety kicking in my system.

Air bubbles became caught in my throat as my began to leak. They've never done this before, not underwater. Pressing my wrists to my eyelids, I began to question myself and my sanity.
'What is happening to me? Why is water coming out of my eyes?'

'"Is the little fishy gonna cry?" Said the blonde from before. The freckled ginger next to her giggled falsely, yet supportively, and they pretended to rub their eyes like upset, new-born guppies. What shameless, mockful, immature humans they were.

I rolled over onto my stomach to hide my face, making my seashell chest piece clanked against the wood. I could hear the crowd quiet down at my moment of weakness, hearing my cries and beginning to sympathize for my situation.

The most affected by my bawling, the blonde haired man from before held me gently and turned me over, looking at me with empathy in his eyes. I punched his back and thrashed and kicked as he carried me into a window-less, overly-pink room. He seemed unfazed by the bruises I was leaving on top of his earlier ones, which pushed me to the point of no return. He, bothered me to a point of no return.

Over all other emotions, I felt dry. Mermaids never knew what happened when they ran out of water, for those that went above the ocean never came back to tell their stories. He laid me down onto a soft, cushiony substance, which was apparently made of very absorbent material.

The water from my tail soaked into it, the linens sponging it in greedily, and my tail began to glow like an Angler Fish's bioluminescent attraction. The man stared at the glow with as much awe as I did fear, yet there was also slight fascination in my gaze. The glow started creeping up to my torso, then it faded out, leaving small twinkling noises as it disappeared.

I was left with two tails. Long, skinny, moled, pale-toned tails. I gasped in horror as I fidgeted and kicked them around, trying to make my beautiful, now long-missed tail come back.

"What did you do to my tail?!" I shot at him, but he just kept staring at my helpless form with interest and awe.

ADRIEN'S POV

I shot her a confused glance.

"You think I did this? I only carried you here!" My point was valid, and she looked as if at a loss for words. She picked at my sentence in a childish tone, 'YoU tHiNk I dId ThIs MeH mEh MeH~",
before replying;

"Says the man who snatched me and put me on this giant sponge!" She shouted. She rolled off the side of the bed and crawled angrily towards me, using her elbows-to-dig technique from the beach. I backed away at a normal rate from her angered, grabby hands as she stared at my legs.
