Chapter 12 The Big Storm

I woke up with Vivian in my face snoring really loud, I thought to my self 'How did she even get in my room?' I looked at the clock and it was already 7:00 that's when we walk out side for the bus. I hurry and slipped on my new school clothes and wale up Vivian for school but she didn't even wake up I walked into Sydney's room and wake her up. "WAKE UP WAKE UP WERE GOING TO BE LATE FOR SCHOOL!" I said in a low and loud voice. She opened her eyes "No your mom got a call from the school like at 2:00 and they said school is cancelled for today because of the fog, high winds, it was thundering and lightning out, also before 1 there was a car crash with like 3 light poll down, it is the road that our bus goes down. So we get one more day off of school. Also your friend Vivian came over to check on us so she knows were safe. Also We were all surprised that you did not wake up from the tree that fell on the other persons houses but thank God that they were not home. So just go back to bed." I walked out of the room surprised and scared. I walked back into my room and change into barn clothes. I walk down stairs and into the pantry and grabbed the cereal and grabbed a bowl, a spoon also the milk. I put some cereal in the bowl and poured milk in it. I finished my food and it was already 8 my mom would be getting up for work if she even had it, even my brother for daycare since I go to school and both my parents work. I walked into the living room and all I could smell was my grandmas perfume. I turned on the T.V and all that wad on was "WZZM 13" There were lots of weather report on what had happened last night. I thought to my self 'How could I have slept through that?' I didn't answer it but I did manage to find out that in the next 4 days there will be no electricity. "Wait how do we got electricity then?" Then I heard the generator out side. The barn was not destroyed nothing in our yard except that some trees were down. I would have thought it as a tornado but it wasn't. I walked to the barn and opened the door the horses were all in there stalls, Frost was acting up she was going crazy I don't blame her thought from what I have hear and saw this had to be bad for the horses they were all spooked and neighing really loud. I walk out side and walked into the pasture to make sure nothing was down and there were no holes in the fence. After that it was clear and I let the horses out except Frost. I still had her lead rope but her halter was still on just in case something happened. I hooked it up and lead her into the arena. I tied her on the post and walked to the tack room and grabbed the saddle, the bit. I walked over to were she was and she knew what we were going to do. "Just a little training please come on I had enough time to rest." She bobbed her head up and down think it means yes I slip the saddle pad and saddle on her and put the bit in her mouth and walked into the corner of the arena and the barrels were there. I hurryed and put them in place and walked back to Frost. When I was feeding them I grabbed her some snacks and she could smell them I gave her one for being patient. I got on her back and turned her right, then I stoped her then counted down. " 3-2-1" I kicked her sides and when to the first barrel and turned her but I made sure that she was not slipping, also I made sure my belly button was lined up with the horn of the saddle to make sure I was not slipping out of the saddle and make Frost get thrown off balance. I was already at the third barrel and kick her sides and made her go as fast as she could. My mom clapped her hands, "Well done, you should enter her in the barrel racing compation coming up in like two weeks." I got off her and walked her to the grooming area and hooked her up to it and took off everthing except the halter. While I was putting her saddle away I grabbed the grooming equipment and walked back to her. I took out the groomer and started to groom her then I picked her hooves then combed her tail and mane. After that it was sundown and I put everthing back and put her in her stall. Before I was going to get the horses I threw some flakes down for the horses I grabbed there hay net and put the hay in there. After I did that I gave them water. I walked out to were the pasture fence was and called the horses I hooked all 3 horses up and lead them to their stalls they found their food, and water. It was getting dark and I was in the barn for the whole day I walked inside and took off my boots and saw that Vivian and Sydney were at the table eating dinner. "Hey An how is the new barn?" Vivian said. "Good." I walked to the table and grabbed a plate and put the food on my plate and my dad was talking to mom. "So I'm leaving tomorrow when you go to school An. I won't go to your school only because I have to go back home." I finished and my mom got a call from the school.

"Parents of Anna there will be no school due to power outage we will call back when school starts again have a nice day/evening. Good bye."

My mom told me and I dressed for bed and brushed my teeth and when to bed.
