Forbidden Love

My heart is alive,

fluttering on its own

my face is blank

devoid of any emotion.

My cheeks turn rosy,

my smile winks teeth,

my eyes turn bright,

and my hands run wild.

I run my fingers,

across his soft, brown hair,

he holds me close,

close that I can feel his breath.

He leans inwards

to take my lips

i close my eyes

and wake from sleep

I sigh in defeat

as I go to the mirror

And tell myself

that he is held away by a barrier.

He is blanketed by hatred

surrounded by bitterness

and all I can give him

is my love and tenderness.

He took my heart away,

it is rightfully his

and now I'm thoroughly distraught

as my heart, now his,

has gone astray.
