a walk down memory lane: part 1

Start from the beginning

"Morgan!" Kevin says, when we get into the car. "I don't know what to think."

"What? She was a bitch."

"I mean yeah, that was rude, but-"

"It wasn't her place." I say, pulling out of the parking lot. "Whatever, we have other places to go to anyway."

"Like where?" He asks.

"I don't know." I say, and he can obviously tell I'm lying. "I guess we'll have to wait and see." I say. I have to drive back into town before we can get to Rachel's aunt's dance studio. It's just down the road from the sports centre where we do volleyball.

It doesn't take long to get there, only about ten minutes, even though it feels like ages because of Kevin's constant begging, trying to get me to tell him where we're going.

It took Addison, Rachel, Natasha and I hours to plan out how this was going to work.

There's a table and chairs set up, because it represents our first fake date, real date, and kiss, and where we were when they happened.

Rachel's aunt had this really cool backdrop thing, kind of like in a theatrical performance, when you need to change backgrounds. When you're finished with one, you can pull a chain that rolls it back up to the top of the thing, and pull a different one to bring it down.

Addison, the artist, painted each background that corresponds with the setting of each event, based on photos that I showed her from all of the days.

When we get there, we go to a table that is already set up with everything we needed from our first fake date.

I didn't want to eat like three different meals, so I decided to take parts from each moment and combine them to make the perfect night.

I sent Liam to take the food we ate from our first fake date, got the clothes we wore from the first real date, and had Addison make the backdrop from the view of our first kiss.

"What is all this?" He asks, and I can't help but smile.

"You do so much for me." I say, "and... I don't know... I just wanted you to know... How much I love you?" I say, not really knowing what to say or do.

"You did what?"

"And since... We're in the second half I wanted to look back on all the firsts we had together. That's why I brought you to the park, where me met, and-"

"Wait." He says, "you did all this for me?"

"Why wouldn't I?" I say with a laugh.

"I don't know." He says, "I guess I'm just...shocked. Thank you." He says, and tries to kiss me, but I pull away.

"We haven't gotten there yet." I say, and he rolls his eyes. I take his hand and we sit at the table together.

"Aaand we're back to this." He says.

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"It's just a kiss, Morgan. I don't see what the big deal is, or why you waited so long."

"Do you remember who your first kiss was with?" I ask him, letting go of his hand and crossing my arms over my chest.

"Yeah, so?"

"Who was it?"

"Do we really have to talk about this-"

"Who?" I ask, pushing his shoulder, and he just giggles at me.

"Samantha Robyn." He says, and I laugh.

"Didn't she move when we were like... Eleven?"

"Yeah. I was ten."
