To me, you are a goddess,
Centuries ago, people would've worshipped you,
Down at your feet,
Begged for your love or attention,
Exactly what I do now.

Your radiant beauty and magnificent control over me,
Would've made you the most powerful being,
Now it makes you the holder of my soul.

To me, you are a knight,
Decades ago, people would've prayed for you to save them,
Paid for your assistance,
Begged for your protection against the monsters of this world,
Exactly as I do now.

Your strong hold and aggressive protectiveness,
Would've made you the most successful to the king,
Now it makes you the woman I dream would keep me safe from the evils of this life.

To me, you are a damsel in distress,
Now, I see you silently struggling for the help you'll never ask for,
The company you wish you had,
And the peace of mind you can't find,
Exactly what I could grant you.

My overwhelming love for you and the heartbreak at your sorrow,
Would make me the best partner you could have,
Yet now, it makes me the friend who pines after the girl out of her league who would never love me the way I love her.
